the SEC is 100% against allowing alcohol in any stadium we play in...Before I start I KNOW that all schools have "those" fans but, I have never in my life seen so many beligerant morons that were nothing but jackasses to other fans in the stadium...I though UGA and FLA were bad but good grief...Yes we had our rear ends handed to us and congrats to Tech for that but as far as the fan base is concerned I really do not care about the ignorant and childish behavior they displayed...For example, there was a couple who brought their 2 sons to the game and they all were wearing Eric Berry jerseys 2 rows in front of us, and the entire first half were being berated by an abnoxious Tech fan...When we tied it up before half they turned to him and just smiled, when the berating they took deserved to give more, but did not, and he walked down to them and started pointing in the face of the lady and was cussing and unfortunately I was unable to get to the isle or I would have knocked the crap out of this guy...Stadium security took him out and before the game was over just in our section took 8, yes 8 Tech fans to the exits...Again yes I know we all have those fans but it really put Tech fans into perspective for me...I truely hope that they never win another game as long as they play the beloved game of football...Sorry to rant but thats my two cents!...Four months till the Orange and White Game!!!

I 100% agree.. I was sitting near several Tech fans and had a whole family of them beside me and in front of me.
The father of the family was so drunk every time he jumped up to cheer he almost fell over and nearly puked several times..
His son, around the age of 12-15, would constantly scream and yell the most obnoxious things trying to annoy the Tennessee fans. The drunk Tech fans around me started chanting ACC and looking for an excuse to fight anyone in orange that said anything back. Towards the end of the 3rd quarter several of them were escorted out..

I've sat around Bama, FLA , Auburn and UGA fans before and have never seen such crap than at this game..

It defintely ruined my first bowl game ever for myself and my wife. I had to explain to my wife for an hour on the drive home that not all fans are like that..

Before the game there was another poster on the site praying we beat VT this year because he lived in that area and discussed how berating and obnoxious their fan base seems to be. He had some real vitriol about the way he had been treated by their fans being that he was a UT fan in their "country."

I actually thought about how bad I felt for that guy in the 4th quarter when all hope was finally extinguished for good. Its kind of funny how bad I felt for someone I didnt even know and hadnt really ever spoken to other than to read his thread post begging UT's coaching staff to show up for the game and make all those Tech fans eat crow after having run our players, coaching, and University into the ground. Man, I still feel horrible for that guy!

I hope that once we get back to 85 scholly players, hand picked by this staff for this scheme and the program has been turned around, back to its traditionally competitive, hard-nosed reputation, we get another shot at VT if for nothing else than revenge for that poor b#@*%#%d.....

Wow I thought Tech would have classier fans! My brother-in-law is a huge Michigan fan. I took him to Neyland(he HAD to wear his Maize and Blue) he said he has never been to any place that he has experienced so much hospitality. He wants to go to the Oregon game next year! I have never heard anyone badmouth UT fans(bama does not count).

They took one falling down drunk moron out in my section. He was dressed so poorly that I couldn't tell who he was for. Since I was in a UT section most Tech fans I observed behaved fairly well. That goes for Marta and after the game as well. Sounds like they must have had to have a clear majority before they started acting like a----. There were a couple of people that were hit with airplane liquor bottles that must have been chunked by VT fans which is a clear sign of cowardice IMO.

This is why you match them in drunkenness so you don't have to worry about it...

I must agree...while walking to my seat right before halftime, I had the priviledge of being cussed out by a Hokie fan. After his rant, I told him he was officially the rudest person I had met ( I know...real harsh :) but there was a lady Tech fan in front of us who was polite and loved our band. But overall...thought the Tech people were extremely rude.

I had a husband-wife combo of tech fans sitting by me and my father (38 and 59 years old, respectively). They were very obnoxious, but it was good natured. Their team was handing our butts to us and they were enjoying it as fans. After the game the husband came over and shook hands and told us to be careful heading out.

There were two vol fans sitting right next to us. Right before kickoff the guy gets up and leaves. At the end of the first quarter I go to the bathroom and there is a guy on all fours puking in the stall. When I got back to my seat I asked other folks if they knew they couple and they did. They said he drank too much and was passed out puking. He never came back.

I had not one problem all night long, didn't even see anyone drunk. The VT fans I encountered were very cordial, but if the drunkeness in other areas were bad, you could just as easily blame being in Atl on New Years Eve.

I was at the game surrounded by drunk UT fans behind the band. But at the end of the game, i looked over in the midst of the VT fans and saw a few orange dots. Those poor fans must have endured the worst of all of us...

I hate a drunkard. One reason I seldom have a drink anymore is it always seemed to boil down to me babysitting a drunk or drunks, men and women alike. I ran out of patience a long time ago with people who ruin everyone elses' time because they refuse to be responsible. Total jackasses! I have seen numerous UT fans at Neyland that fall into that category and UGA fans at Neyland as well.

Well, I'll ride on Empty to avoid stopping anywhere near VT on my drives from DC to Knoxville.

Tech fans couldn't hold their liquor. Liquored up fans were cursing and yelling at UT fans the whole game.

I was in Sec 136, right by the Tech band. Aweful! Fortunately I was sitting around our fans. On the way out, two guys were literally carrying a tech girl out from being passed out drunk. That must have been a long walk to the car. By the way, who the hell would do the hokey pokey? Did anyone think that was as dumb as I did?

When I was in college, I would have probably disagreed with you, but I definitely see now that alcohol has no place in college football stadiums. There is a lack of maturity with most college fans (as most are college kids), add in an intense rivalry, an all-day tailgate, and MORE DRINKS AT THE GAME = A formula for disaster!

Though I don't have kids yet, I refuse to take them to college football game until they are in their teens... IMO, that's not how it should be!

I was absolutely plastered but I wasn't talking trash to Hokies. Mainly just talking to every person I saw wearing orange and high fiving them.

Well I hate to admit it...but I sat in a section mostly with UT fans...and the whole row behind me and my family was drunk....I like my liquor just like the next person, but I can hold mine better. The husband and wife behind us said the (f)duck word every other word....You gotta have a little class to yourself when kids and women are around.....It makes games like this that much more unbearable....

Perhaps UT & VT fans were more intermingled due to it being a bowl game. It being a night game on New Year's Eve probably made matters worse. Some people probably started drinking too early in the day too.
