After 2 weeks of SEC Football (Vols Looking Really Good)

All that's purtty on paper, but we still ain't beat anybody.
Might want to hang on to that one. UT's D stats vs USCe and Mizzou were similar to what UF and Bama posted. Offensive performances were similar too. UT had more yds vs USCe than UF did. About 50 more rushing yds.

I dismissed USCe but they might be better than I thought.

UGA defense allowing 248 ypg is eye raising. I realize they’ve played two challenged offenses but damn that’s strong.

I’m surprised by our D, I feel like they’ve been worse than they are, stats are stats but still surprising considering the way the games have went.

1. Ty Chandler leads the SEC in rushing with 176 yards on 32 carries.

2. Chandler and Gray have rushed for more yards as a tandem than any other RB's in the SEC with a combined 60 carries for 321 yards 5.35 yards per carry.

3. Deande Johnson leads the SEC with 3.5 sacks

4. The Vols are 2-0 and tied for the lead in the East and are 1 of only 4 remaining undefeated teams in the conference.

5. The Vols winning streak going back to last year is up to 8 and leads the conference.

6. JG is the only true starter in the SEC without an INT.

7. The Vols have the fewest turnovers as a team at 0.

8. As a team the Vols are 2nd in rushing at 182.5 yards per game. (UK leader 276.5)

9. The Vols are 2nd in points allowed per game at 19.5. (UGA leader 8.0)

You just jinxed us in every category by posting this.

Elementary school kid should have fought harder.
Why do you care what people celebrate?
How does that affect you?
What if they want to throw a 5 sq block rager bc TN gets first complete pass of the game?

Why do you care?
Definitely was/have the older kid beating up little kids.

I don't care, but we see this every year. Then when we lose, those same folks come back hollering, fire the coach! When in reality most of us kind of knew what to expect

Bamas defense is nothing like it used to be. Actually been mediocre since Pruitt left. Both have better offenses imo and will carry them further than ours is capable of.

We seem to get the best from Ga every year, I expect this year to be no different. If our passing defense was better, I wouldn't be as worried. Couple that with JG and his historical performance vs those teams and I'm even less optimistic.

I do expect it to be closer than the last few years, but don't see us beating the Dawgs this year unless we get the Ga that showed up vs SC last year.

There is so much that worries me heading into a game like this weekend, but at the same time so much good we're not used to seeing that excites me.

1. Tennessee and our three biggest rivals being the only undefeated teams left sets up a really exciting season
2. LOVE those stats about us taking care of the ball
3. Kentucky has rushed for over 275 yards a game and is 0-2? That’s.... wow. I’d expect that sort of stat from a service academy or Georgia Tech 3 years ago
4. UGA’s defense is just as scary as we’d thought it’d be in preseason. Next week is a big test for our O. Gotta keep that turnover free play cause we need every opportunity we can get to score
You know UGA played Arkansas and Auburn. Both teams are trash.....not scared of their defense or offense. We are about to play bully ball.....

This Saturday will be the first real measuring stick. Even if we don't win, we can truly gauge the team by how well these stats hold up in this game.
This is a false narrative that folks keep supporting. If a team was a perineal championship contender then this argument would be valid. We’ve spent a decade in the abyss and are hoping we finally have some coaches who can return us to consistent competitiveness. At this point in the process every conference victory is important. Seeing progress in fundamental play is important. A win over GA would be huge, but I’d be happy with a well played competitive game as that would be huge progress over the spankings we’ve been getting. Folks should appreciate the progression from dumpster fire to competitive in the SEC before downplaying solid conference victories.

In their last 8 games they whipped us by 5 scores and #14 Auburn. We got lucky in a few games.

I understand people are excited. But until we beat someone of significance, people need to stop the celebration. The stats the op posted is like bragging about a middle school kid beating up an elementary kid.

I say let's enjoy the 8 game win streak we are on and celebrate every win we have. We have been that middle school kid for far to long and I'm gonna enjoy every beat down we have. LSU didn't go undefeated last year without besting the little guys on their schedule.

Every SEC game is a test. I love how some of our fans will “withhold a final verdict” until we play xyz team and dominate them. As if every other game is a scrimmage. Come on man
My favorite part of posts like that them thinking they're gonna be doing the rest of us a favor by "jumping on the bandwagon" with the rest of us fans.

Oh thank you Monty thank you, I hope we beat Georgia so you will be a fan like the rest of us, I lose sleep worrying about how you feel about the Vols. Lol.

I'm really more confident in knowing what UGA is... than knowing what UT is. Their D has a ton of talent and played well in their first two games. UT played two "good" D's but UGA has the talent to match up outside then clamp down on the short passes and run game.

JG is tied with 3 guys at 9th for completion rate on throws deeper than 15 yds. He's 11th in accuracy on those throws. Receivers have had separation. He's 3rd worse in uncatchable balls over 15 yds. According to SECstatcat, UT has only had two WR drops. UT had close to two per game last year.

I'll repeat again... UT needs much better play from the QB position if the Vols are going to compete with the top tier teams.

Wish I had your confidence. It's worth noting Arkansas and Auburn are 2-0 in the games they didn't play Georgia, our opponents are 0-2. I think we've got a shot Saturday but I'm not holding my breath either
