Does anyone know what will happen if the AFC West ends up in a four-way tie, with every team at 8-8?

OAK DEN SD KC

OAK x Split Split KC

DEN Split x Split Split

SD Split Split x Split

KC KC Split Split x

Would the Chiefs, then, be the team AFC West Division Champions?

Two Clubs
Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
  1. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  4. Strength of victory.
  5. Strength of schedule.
  6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best net points in common games.
  9. Best net points in all games.
  10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  11. Coin toss
Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

Last night before the Ravens/Chargers game, I believe they said if all 4 teams finish 8-8 the Chiefs would go.

Being a Raider's fan, I am pretty much resigned to the belief that a 4 way tie cannot happen, because the Raiders have choked, are choking and as far as I can tell, will continue to choke.

I don't see that happening. I know if it comes down to it, Denver holds tie-breakers over Oakland and San Diego, and still have a game to play vs. Kansas City. I've tried to keep track of Denver's clinch scenarios, and I believe the Broncos clinch the division by: 1) winning the next two games or 2) beating KC or 3) beating Buffalo and Raiders losing one of next two games or 4) Oakland defeats KC and SD loses to Detroit and SD beats Oakland.

Denver has the most clinch scenarios and have the easiest remaining schedule. It is theirs to lose, but they have an unfortunate history of doing just that. 2008 anyone?

Just look at their uniforms, a combination of mustard and ketchup.

To get to 8-8:

SD has to win @ Oakland or @ Detroit
Denver has to lose @ Buffalo and to KC
KC has to beat Oakland and @ Denver
Oakland has to beat SD or @ KC

I don't think we are going to end up with a 4-way tie.
