Sorry if this isnt the right forum for this but I wasnt sure where to put it.

Im planning on going to Cades Cove on Sunday ater going to the game Saturday. Any advice on the best way to get there or place to stay? I ask because apparently there is a Rod Run Car Show in Pigeon Forge this weekend? Thanks

Go through Maryville past the Airport and stay left when the road splits, follow that to Townsend, that is the place to stay. You can follow the signs there to Cades Cove. Know the place well, my Grandfather was born in the Cove.

Go through Maryville, out Alcoa Highway. Stay in Townsend. Stay away from Pigeon Forge at all costs.

I got married in Cades Cove.

with that rod run in pidgeon forge, you might want to think twice about going this weekend. the wife and i went down there 3 years ago and really regreted it !! rooms are higher, traffic is awful , just a mess !! i didn't know about it till we got there. we said never again. always have it the 3rd sat in sept !!  :banghead2: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

There are a couple places to stay in Townsend. Other than that you're looking at Gatlinburg and PF. I was up there two weekends ago and traffic was typical (also a rod run when I was up there). Best time to hit Cades Cove is early morn or right before sunset. Those are your best times to see wildlife. Have fun! Cades Coves is a beautiful place!

If you go from Knoxville....

Go down Alcoa Hwy. At the "split" past the airport, go left towards Maryville. Stay on this road until it merges with 321, aka Lamar Alexander Parkway. You'll be on 321 about 15-20 minutes before you get to Townsend. Once in Townsend, stay STRAIGHT when 321 turns off to the left. After this, go past the rest of the town and all of the tubing places and then just follow the signs to get there. There's all kinds of places to stay in the Maryville to Townsend area.

That said, Cades Cove is the most overrated place in the area IMO and why anyone would want to go there is beyond me.

I hope that last part was a joke?

We had an amazing trip to Cades Cove this spring. My mother from Mo. brought her friend down to visit. We seen 3 bears within 20 yards of us. Picnicked there and seen a few deer. Good times. And yes it is a beautiful place.

Google the B&Bs in Townsend....I'm not sure which is the best one there, I think it's Gracehill. Also check Dancing Bear.
