Advice for smokers in neyland (merged)

Last I checked this nation still stands for freedom, the next time you pick on someone for a quick smoke, you could be picking on someone who has fought for your freedom and just needs a relief.

You should be ashamed of yourself for playing that card on such a petty thing.

it's more of a simple question, not me whining. i understand how it could come off that way with toneless text.

do you really dodge smoke watching the game inside the stadium? unless someone is deliberately smoking next to you maybe, but if they kept it in the concourse like the past or even had smoking areas then what's the big deal? such a significant percentage of people smoke in this world. it just seems like a losing battle to worry about it.

I was talking specifically about smoking in your seats.

why don't you just not smoke, and problem solved, its disgusting for everyone else to have to deal with, dont make everyone else suffer, hold it until you get home

This type of ignorance is astounding. I've lost two relatives to lung cancer and what they went through before they passed was horrific. Man, they suffered.

Can they also segregate excessive hot dog eaters in Neyland? At the end of the first quarter of every game, a fat guy on my aisle goes and gets 4 hot dogs loaded with ketchup and mustard, and sometimes spills some ketchup on me as he walks back to his seat!

Watching our offense has made me want to start smoking.
Also drinking heavily and cursing, but thats just me.

Don't worry the gov't is working on taxing it so you should be safe in a year or two.

Smoking is a sensitive subject for alot of people, I smoke and I always take into consideration others when and where I light up. Having designated smoking area at the stadium is not asking to much, Smokies stadium has that.

The next time you're at the game and some obese person is taking up half your seat, who gets up and makes hot dog runs and is spilling soda on you, which is worse, being cramped for 4 hrs or a guy that snuck a smoke or 2.

i smoke numerous cigs every game at my own leisure. sure they come around and tell you to put it out, but they don't ever do anything about it.

you also could be picking on a draft dodger. just saying.

Yeah they got ahold of me last time I was there. I heard they are not playing around with it at all this year.

i like a good cig when i'm drinking. By the looks of it,...lots of people drink in Neyland. What if you get one of those smokeless filter things and fire it up at your seat. Is that legal? IMO smokers are targeted more than drinkers. You can't smoke in bars anymore, but you can drink and get drunk, leave the bar and kill someone in a headon collision. Not sure where this country is headed.

All the obese people should start smoking, maybe they won't eat so much. Then we all could be happy in our seats instead of being packed in like sardines. I hate sitting next to obese people on a plane,...i don't feel comfortable because i have no room. Have they banned obese people from planes? No. Is it right to charge them for two seats?

Bottom line,.. smokers are discriminated more than anyone, but since more people drink (plus politicians) they will not touch that subject.

You would think the way some people respond to smokers that smokers at the game are holding them down and blowing smoke up their nose. I would much rather be seated beside someone who snuck a few smokes then someone obese taking up my seat.

How about setting a special smoking area for opposing fans and give out free cigarettes, to keep them smoking the whole game instead of making noise in the stands.

Yes, I signed up just for this thread. I am a Vol fan. I do some reading on here every now and then when I'm thinking about football. This thread is definitely interesting.

Last I checked, our country fought for freedom in the 1700's and none of those guys are around anymore. They were smokers.

For the record, I am a smoker. I think that a lot of you are ridiculous with your "holier than thou", "second-hand smoke kills" BS.

I don't smoke, but I am ok with a designated smokers area.

With that being said, some of you smokers are hilarious with your defense of smoking. Half of what I have read in defense of it makes no sense what so ever.

very entertaining thread though

Not sure that I'm really worried about second-hand smoke killing me - I just don't want any disgusting smoke being blown into my face and not being able to avoid it or get out of the way since we're so crammed in there.

I couldn't care less if they go out onto the scissor ramps and smoked though.
