I know that many of you know the in's and out's of Neyland and all of their rules. But last year I made a big mistake and thought mybe some of the Neyland virgins need this info. I SURE WISH I HAD IT LAST YEAR..

Hadn't been to a game in two years and last year went to Miss State night game. I am a Camel Cig Smoker! So, at halftime its time to enjoy a smoke.

I forgot what the rules were for the smoking section. At the Titans games and other places there is a spot you can go. They told me outside was the only place you could go.

The person who told me this was a usher mind you. So I followed some people outside and smoked my cig.

After I finished I was walking back in when I was stopped by the ticket taker. Three of them were standing there and they said no way can I go back in. Another couple was standing there getting the same news as me..The lady was having a breakdown about not being let back in as she had her children inside. He told me to go check the ticket office and buy a new ticket.

The 2nd half started back up and still no dice. I was staring at this guy and told him this is ridiculous. No one is around let us in. People were starting to leave the game early as they did last year, and me and the couple saw this as our opportunity to run right past them, which we did. I was past beyond the point of caring about them or any other authority figure at that point.

POINT OF THIS STORY BEING....If you want to smoke in Neyland do what everybody else does and smoke on the zig zag concourses. Smoking is technically not allowed inside the stadium. If you leave the stadium, with or without your ticket stub, they will not let you back in.

Some friendly advice.
You have been warned!

What do you mean by "technically" not allowed?

I remember going to games and having people around me light up and go to town. One dude in Section L right in front of us would literally smoke a pipe for the entire game. I've been second hand smoking peach tobacco since I was 4 years old!

why don't you just not smoke, and problem solved, its disgusting for everyone else to have to deal with, dont make everyone else suffer, hold it until you get home

Smoking is not allowed. At all. They're cracking down this year because there were complaints last year that people would disregard the ushers requests to follow the rules. The state has threatened UT and other stadiums with additional fines if the rules are not more strictly enforced this year.

If you smoke inside the stadium, you will be asked to leave. That is the new direction that security has been given. There are not any smoking areas on the property. That is the interpretation of the law that the state fire marshall gave UT, beginning last season.

I guess personal choices and freedoms don't apply here.

It's an outside venue. Set up a smoke hole on one end of the stadium and pack 'em in like cattle.

You say you're a Camel Cig smoker like it's cool. Do your family a favor and stop. Watched my Grandfather die of lung cancer this summer and it was a slow, horrific death. He had stopped smoking about 18 years prior to his death. Doctor said it was about 10 years too late. With Colon Cancer and Lung Cancer, when you get the first symptoms, it is likely too late.

I would think they could put some fans at the edges of the rails and blow the smoke over toward Hess... they'd appreciate it... as long as they're not smoking around the rest of us who cares...

I do love the smell of cigarette/pipe smoke..... nasty/deadly habit though...

I don't have the freedom to spew toxins in someone's face because I like it. Folks who suggest "personal freedom rights" imply that it's not harmful to others.

To quote Robert Zimmerman ala The National Lampoon radio show of days gone by, "I used to smoke 40 packs of cigarettes a day (wheeze, cough cough, wheeze wheeze), till I lost one of my lungs -- Cut my smoking in half (cough, wheeze, cough...)."

Smoking killed both my maternal grandfather and my dad. So, my advice to smokers, "Just say no."

If you decide to smoke in the stadium, let the guy on here know that's looking for someplace to sit. He'd appreciate it.

If only second hand smoke was actually proven to be harmful, fact is they dont really know what the effects are yet. The anti-smoking Nazis will push their false propaganda down everyone's throats no matter what..

Let me start by saying I'm not a smoker, but seriously who cares? I'm pretty sure Neyland is big enough for us to designate a smoking section where individuals can enjoy the day as they choose, and the rest of us will be none the wiser.

Good Lord. I don't smoke and personally think it's a nasty habit. But I understand that some people do and I don't care what they want to do.

I know people that smoke and when they quit, they go nuts. Personally, I'd rather not have a guy going nuts cause he needs to puff a cig sitting in front of me at the game. Fence off a section, and let them puff away. If you are scared to death of smoke, don't go near that area.

It keeps everyone happy.

And like it was pointed out by the OP - people still smoke. They just hide it and walk up and down the ramps. Give them some place to go so I don't have to walk behind a smoker hiding it on the ramp.

Dont understand why people have sooo big opinions on smokers. Your life is your own box. Do as you will. This wasnt advice for the MADD or non smokers of the world to get on a platform. It's for the degenerate creep smoker.....almost as low as you can get nowadays.

The adage---"Your rights end when mine begin"

I have smoked---tough to quit---but man-- breathing is wonderful. One day at a time.

Holy crap. Everyone is judging the man about smoking. He just said that if you leave you can't get back in. The second hand smoke argument has been debunked as well. Get over yourselves. I don't smoke but don't get high and mighty on those that do.
