I've been to games before in Knoxville but picking a hotel is like rolling the dice. Also we tend to go to copper cellar before games.
What's a good hotel within walking distance to Neyland as well as a good sports bar to hit up before the game?

Hotels within walking distance are the Hilton Downtown, Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn World's Fair Park, Marriott of Knoxville, Hilton Garden Inn, and the Crowne Plaza. I'm not sure about sports bars, but Calhouns on the river is a popular spot.

Cumberland House by Sheraton. It might be too late for reservation. Best of breed!

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn at Worlds Fair park twice. Perfect hotel in all aspects....distance, accommodations, etc.

As a student who used to frequent Copper Cellar, I haven't been (and probably wont be) back after my last visit. It's under new management and not for the better. The food was absolutely terrible, the burger seemed as if it had been microwaved leftovers from McDs from across the street. Multiple friends have had a similar experience. The service is fine and I actually have friends who work there but I would not advise going until it gets better. Sorry for the rant but I had to. In terms of a sports bar I'm not sure, I typically tailgate but don't go to Copper Cellar!

I personally will be in a luxury cabin on Norris Lake that weekend, boating and watching lots of football, but if you haven't already made reservations downtown, you probably need to start looking to west Knoxville.Lot's of options and then leave several hours before kickoff.
We always parks off of Gay Street behind the Downtown Brewery, which is a pretty good place to down a few before the game. From there about a 20 minute hike to the stadium.
Many options on the strip, but I concur about Copper Cellar. We walked out a couple of years ago after being treated so rudely. It wasn't like we were some drunk punks either. All 50'ish professionals.

I love the downtown grill and brewery up from the Tennessee theatre. It's not close to any hotels, but it's a great place to go. Not too pricey either.

I like to go to Old College Inn and grab a beer and some food before games. It's on the strip, but I don't mind the walking distance.

Leave the GF at home. It's like taking sand to the beach. The talent level in Knoxville on game day is incredible.

OCI is gone ...maybe to return someday.
The hilton garden inn is at Cumberland & 17th, but prob already booked for USU. Sheraton in Ft Sanders is a great location too

We need to put together an official VolNation visitor guide with dining and hotel recommendations and suggestions of things to do while in town. Would be awesome, imo.
