Are there any? What are the disadvantages? Should the secondary be functioning as a team? Would they work better as a team if they all had the same coach?

two coaches for a position is never a good idea because they will never 100% agree on everything. this causes a gap that slowly turns into a gorge.

I remember when Coach Fulmer hired JImmie Ray Stephens and split the OL coaching and believe that really hurt the performance of his OLs. I always wondered if that was a teamwork issue. Now I am wondering if the same sort of dynamic is at work with our secondary?

The thought behind it is that Safety and Cornerback are two very different positions. Having two different coaches allows for more hands on coaching.

I can see where fear of separation, a void, could exist, but if that was true wouldn't you just want one coach for the entirety of the Defense since-- due to this thought process-- they would all not be on the same page?

So should we have 3 offensive line coaches?

S and CB are 2 very different positions.

Having 1 coach for each position is actually very smart and lets the players at each position get more 1 on 1 time with their position coach both on the field and in film study.

Putting all the positions together for a good gameday team is the coordinators job.

If it was all so easy and simple to teach and learn then we'd only need 1 coach to teach everything, LOL.

VFL...GBO!!!

I for one am disappointed in our secondary. I know we have had some injuries but I believed our secondary to be one of our strengths this year...but as I've watched our games I've noticed how slow our secondary seems compared to the opposing teams we've played. Sure makes me miss seeing #14 back there patrolling around looking to bust some heads and snatch a Tebow pass and take it to the house.

GO VOLS!!!

They only list one on their website, but I have always heard that Saban spends a lot of time coaching the secondary.

He does - he actually came up as a secondary coach both in NFL and college - then worked under Bellicheck as a DC - so the browns were so bad they couldnt win with arguably the best college and NFL coach of this generation and 2 of the best ever

no wonder the owner moved to baltimore

I still believe , there is too much thinking , going on . On the whole defense . Too much , "what am I supposed to be doing ". and not enough JUST doing .

The Conklin Hire was Terrible! Should have kept Hinshaw on QBs and brought in Tee Martin to coach WRs!

I think I would prefer to have Tee coaching QBs. He is a proven leader & winner. Wonder what Tyler's attitude would be like if Tee were his coach.

The advantage is you have someone to drink beer with after your players lose contain after three 70+ yard off tackle runs.

The disadvantage is your players give up three 70+ yard off tackle runs.
