Advanced Metrics Nonsense

We are failing at communication here. Lol I'll try again. I'm saying comparing a guy that puts up stats on a bad team compared to a guy putting up less stats on a good team. It would be hard stat wise to compare the 2 IMO based on stats.

I mentioned Derozan because he puts up number on a crap squad, because there are numbers to be had. If he was on say OKC he wouldn't even start. So how can you compare his stats to say Joe Johnson who has other players and it be accurate at who's better?

I'm saying some dudes pad stats by being on bad teams, so comparing them to a guy on a team with multiple options would be off.

I hope that makes sense, I may be a lil drunk. :)

I understood what you were saying. I guess I didn't communicate well my response.

You're in the wrong mindset. Totals don't mean much. PPG means almost nothing. Points are a function of how many shots you take. To give your team an advantage in the scoring department you need to score with above average efficiency. DeRozan doesn't do this. You may look at his numbers and think that 18 ppg means something. I'm not sure it means anything. Turns out he's below league average in efficiency. I'll take the guy scoring 10 ppg shooting above average efficiency.

If you are a efficient with the minutes you're given you'll have impressive numbers. Teammates and minutes played aren't very correlated with efficiency at all.

And he should go to Chicago. That would significantly improve their depth and ability on the perimeter. He might be the missing piece for a championship run.

...what? Everything he offers would be redundant there. They need shooters.

A redundancy of versatile wings is not a bad thing.

He would be a great redundancy because between Butler, Deng, and Iggy they could have two of them in the game at all times. Good luck against that D, not to mention all 3 of those guys can spread the floor. You can't leave any one of them open from 3.

They had maybe the best shooter in the league in Kyle Korver and that didn't make them a contender. Belinelli is a "shooter". If they don't add to their roster they aren't winning a title.

Actually...hold that thought. I could possibly see them being the best team next year with Rose back and Butler is so young he could improve enough to make them a title contender. Butler can ball.

Will Rose decide to play next season?

Sarcasm/Rose hatred for being the biggest puss in the league.

I forgot to mention the best way to quickly make themselves a contender, which is to rid themselves of Carlos Boozer as quickly as possible.

Taj Gibson is fully capable of being an inconsistent power forward and for a fraction of the price.

Boozer's not worth what they're paying him, but if you take Boozer out then they don't have any depth at PF. It would depend on who they can pick up.

Alex Len is getting talk for the #1 pick. Guess what? He's 7' 1". He didn't even average 8 rpg and shot just 53%. SMH

Here's some advanced nonsense

They traded away all the toughness on their roster for another scorer and an aging tough guy.

Don't they already have "talent"? Were they lacking experience? Seems like pretty much a roster full of veterans.

Winning/championship experience

I don't understand why people put value in this. At one time Garnett was good enough to lead a team to a title. Wallace has played in 700+ games in his career. Would he have learned anything he hasn't learned if he had played in an NBA finals? What exactly? I've always heard vague answers like, "the playoffs are a whole different ball game", but I don't understand why. Just cause the stakes are higher doesn't mean the game changes.
