Advanced Metrics Nonsense

You have to be the reason the team won the titles to make that argument. Horry is a solid player who made big shots, but he is mainly a secondary player. Wilt does not have the titles, but clearly he is an all time great.

So Kobe doesn't get credit for the ones he won when Shaq was there?

Wish the Jazz realized how good the former dunk champ has been. For his career he's averaged 12, 8, and 2.2 (blocks) per 36, shooting a TS% of .655...ridiculous stats for a SF.

Would playing Jeremy Evans be a slam dunk?

This is just like your Marvin Williams argument. It has zero additional merit now that you've got a guy basically saying the same thing you were about Williams about Evans.

Wait, he tried to argue that Marvin Williams was good? Hahahahaha

Playing 5 minutes per game is too small a sample size to project per 36.

I don't actually know if Evans averages 5 minutes.

Williams was nowhere near what Evans is putting up. Also, you're going off of one data point...

He averages just 8 mpg in his appearances. He's not likely to maintain that pace if he gets starter's minutes, but it's more likely than you would think, not to mention at the very least he's likely to still play well. Also, you don't have to play him 36 minutes. Playing him 20 minutes in every game would be very beneficial. I'm pretty sure he's got the conditioning to go full-tilt for 20 minutes.

Also, the sample size is the 800+ minutes he's played in his career. Still kinda small, but it's not likely that he busts, based on that. He's been out of this world, so if he wasn't any good it'd be very surprising.

He basically said he's super efficient in the limited time he gets out on the court that it therefore meant he should get more playing time because of it.

I don't think I ever argued that Williams should get more playing time. He's always had starter's minutes, so I don't know why I would argue to give him more.

I did however argue to give Kenneth Faried more time. Way off on that one.

Just looking at rebounding, steals, blocks, and fouls I could tell that David Lee was a bad on D, and Larry Sanders is amazing, but this drills down much further. More support that those 4 factors do capture defensive ability.

Is Jared Bayless decent? Seems like he takes a lot of bad shots, and doesn't feed the ball.

Also, is there anything you see about Austin Daye that points towards why he doesn't get much playing time?

Bayless isn't very good. He's not bad, but he's a slightly below average ballhandler, distributor, and scores a little inefficiently, and is a decent defender.

Austin Daye has been a very nice offensive player this season, but his D could use some work.

Yeah...they're pretty banged up...Chandler, Melo, and Amare have all been missing during this slump they've had, and the 35-19 record was also strongly influenced by Ronnie Brewer playing, IMO. There was a huge drop off in their record when Brewer stopped playing, and then they improved again with Amare coming back and playing out of his mind. Up and down season to be sure.

Dwight missed free throws, this year: 332

Nash missed free throws, career: 322
