Admiral

Except Admiral wasn’t unguarded. He was very well guarded, in fact, by 6-10 Simi Shittu.

You know, I just watched that again. I actually expected Admiral to come straight behind Williams at the arc for the pass back, and instead he did move left, I was watching Williams get blocked the first time, and didn't notice Admiral had moved left. So they probably both did something other than what Barnes called. But you are exactly right, Shittu was right on him.

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of that, either. Would have preferred our guys collectively decline those “opportunities”, although I understand the selfish desire to prove others wrong in their case. Not a good look in general, though. Let the main thing be the main thing; winning games.

The way one plays speaks for itself, no need to try and put it into words.

Yeah, I actually expected it to be a pass back to Admiral when I saw it develop, but then noticed that he was guarded by a guy 5” taller than him, and I think Grant did, too. At that point, Grant didn’t have much choice. Barnes chewed hm out, but with 3 seconds, I’m not sure what more he could do. Vandy defended it perfectly.

Admiral, my little girl 7 years old LOVES YOU. We have season tickets and you are hands down her favorite. You're awesome man - heck of a player and an even better person. You're gonna go far buddy! Thanks for making my little girl smile. She screams your name EVERY game.
Hahahahahaha

The short clip of him explaining why he was deserving of the Wooden award was a wee bit cringeworthy.
I thought flexing on Grant’s coattails was a little much after the game he had. How bout when he tried to take the charge in the lane with his hands between his legs and then didn’t react to the guy cutting that Lee easily passed to for the jam? He seemed drunk. Strange game.

I really hope players don't look at social media, not just UT players but all college athletes. After good games, where you carry the team you're praised as a god. A few bad games where you're visibly frustrated and all of the sudden you're selfish and have a bad attitude.

Who said anything about Admiral being " selfish" and having a " bad attitude" ?

This thread is dumb.
Thanks for your shallow opinion but 61 others that would tend to disagree with you. All I did was start a thread based on facts as well as add my opinion. Isn't that how most most threads are started?

Sure seems like people are looking for something when there’s nothing there...Admiral wasn’t pouting on the bench he was cheering on his teammates and actively involved. I am sure to some degree he was frustrated at himself for his performance but I don’t have much issue with that, he’s hard on himself.

His slump seems to coincide with the huge nubmer of NBA scouts at the last couple games. Maybe h'es pressing and trying to hard to impress the scouts?

Turner was wide open on last shot, but team found a way to win and Grant's game was legendary

This thread started with one word “Admiral” so I’ll finish it.

Admiral.....will go down as one of the greatest players in Tennessee history. A great player, a teammate who made everyone on the court play better, and a true leader on the floor. His ability to play and defend all 5 positions is an exceedingly rare talent. His ability to take over a game when his team needs him is second to none. Long after his playing days at Tennessee are over, we will all remember THE ADMIRAL...a true VFL who gave his all for Tennessee every moment he was on campus, under the lights on game day and alone in the gym. A true competitor who hated to lose, and forced wins to happen by pure will. If a banner is hanging in the rafters at Thompson-Boling Arena next season, the Admiral should probably have permission to pull it down and use it as his personal blanket any time he wishes.

Nothing personal to the OP, but start a thread with just a player’s name....finish it like that it.
Well said

The person who is most critical of the Admiral is Admiral. He is of the personality type that demands perfection from himself. Barnes said he gets very emotional when his shots don't fall. aint no thing. Next Admiral explosion at 10 9 8 7 6..... Watch out!!!

I'm sure there were but lately lot more talk of how many scouts are in the building. Plus all the positive press and on this watch lists. Just seems like he's pressing
People said the same thing after the first 4 games, it amazing how much the narrative changes when shots go in.

Totally agree with everything you said. That's why I started the thread with " Admiral is one of my favorite players of all time". I love the guy and believe he and Grant both refuse to lose. They are great ambassadors of our basketball program and I hope to see the #'s 2 and 5 hanging from the rafters of TBA one day.
