Have always wondered about this.

I can't remember the last year we were not sponsored and wearing Adidas equipment. I read a couple years back that Adidas contract's are more lucrative than those of Nike or Reebok.

How long is Tennessee's contract run thru?? Have we been sponsored by any other shoe company before?

the good thing is they usually reduce the prices on their replica jerseys every year once that player (er... number) has graduated or gone to the draft.

I like the small adidas logo on the jerseys, just below the little power T that is in the V of the neck.

If we go with Nike or Underarmor they open the doors for combines and events that bring in HUGE names. Look at basketball. We lost a top recruit due to the fact he wants a Nike contract and we dont work with nike. Addidas does not have the name that the other two do.

I don't really care what they wear personally but the last poster was right about kids actually choosing schools due to being sponsored by Nike. Not to mention, look at what Nike is doing for Oregon. Their facilities are ridiculous. They also use a bunch of different jerseys which a lot of kids like. I guess it's cool that they do that but I wouldn't want Tennessee do to that because of their tradition. I like the classic look. Some of the newer jerseys they have worn are kind of ugly. The all orange is hard to look at. I think it was smart for Oregon to do it because they didn't really have many traditions until now. I think the combination of jerseys has helped give them recognition and now it is their tradition. Yeah, kind of off topic there. I am pretty sure Nike played a role in them wearing all of those combinations though.

Adidas uniforms just look so heavy and thick. Nike uniforms seem to fit and look great.

Adidas has no style about it.

and we all know style of uniforms wins football games. Next you'll be telling us shoes make you faster

that's the founder of Nike giving back to his alma mater. You think every Nike school gets that kind of money?

i agree, i think nike jerseys tend to look a lot better than addidas jerseys, even when the jerseys are extremely simple like ut's.

i've heard, however, that the deal nike offerered wasn't even close to the deal that addidas offered. i'm pretty sure someone "in the know" posted not too long ago that nike did not consider ut a top tier program, therefore did not offer the kind of incentives that say a usc get. addidas, however, does consider ut a top tier program and provides the incentives that ut feels they deserve. what these incentives are, i have no idea.

Good point. I guess I didn't really know that. I think they could and would do more for a school like Tennessee than a lot of other schools. One of the all time winningest programs. One of the largest stadiums in the country. Play in the SEC. Maybe this holds no bearing but if Tennessee and a team like Baylor are both wearing Nike, I would have to think they'd rather see Tennessee be successful while sporting their logo.

Those are the kind of players I would rather not have at UT.
