It's funny that govolsxtra has turned comments on their articles off for the last several weeks. Says a lot about the anger of the fan base.

For once John makes a good agrument.....however, he is missed the key points regarding why Hamilton is willing to extend Phil's contract with an 8 season, served up with a nice bowl game to boot.

In my opinion, ticket sales drive the contract discussions with Phil. Eight wins ensures they will all be sold and the football revenue will be maximized, and the coffers will be sweetened by robust concessions and shirt/hat sales.

Hamilton is not looking for national championships or SEC Championships (thats gravy) he just needs to ensure enough wins and exictment to keep the fans coming back for the perverbial we will get-em next year.

Don't forget about the new sky boxes just installed and throw in the Fulmer raise/extension. I bet they already had that "Bowl" money spent and now they'll be pretty upset Mr. Money-In-The-Bank won't be able to deliver.

I agree.. It doesnt make much sense. 8-4 is avg at best. You give someone a raise for average.. I guess its a good things hamilton doesnt hand out scholarships at the university. The university would go broke.

Ahhh...the ol' "Chicago Cubs" approach.....

Which I fall for that one too :)

Yeah, plus if Cubs fans get mad enough they can throw the beanie babies they hand out (see 2004 season).
