Yeah, Travis Henry's just a terrible citizen because he has 9 kids. Sigh.....what a crime. lol

With that being said, great article. He should have just left that out and gathered one of a dozen other situations instead.

Try selling that to all the kids that had to grow up without their father being there for them.

The thing is, I don't think Fulmer is quite as soft on his team as Adams makes him out to be. Maybe Colquitt isn't officially off the team, but suspending him for half the season and yanking his scholly while maybe not as far as he should have gone, isn't exactly a slap on the wrist.

it is a slap on the wrist when the infraction warranted a dismissal.

Two different people have e-mailed me in the last week and wrote that they will no longer donate money to the program because of the succession of embarrassing off-the-field incidents. Maybe they’re serious; maybe they were just venting.
But it’s just a matter of time before a major contributor decides he has had enough and refuses to throw good money after bad players.

when this actually happens, you might see a new coach, but as long as the dollars flow....

not sure how you can laugh at that situation. I honestly think that fathering 9 children by so many different women and having to be court ordered to pay child support is criminal. TH is out buys thousands of dollars worth of jewlery and wont support his own kids....yeah, real funny.

I think people who suffer from alcoholism get more chances than someone with a drug problem. It has been classified as a "disease" and therefore those who suffer get more compassion than your average pot-head. Do I agree? No! But it's happens everyday in the workplace.

Come on. We've surpassed miami as thug u. I don't necessarily agree with everything adams has to say,but he has a few points there that are absolutely true. Damn its as if some of you guys are related to phil. Wake up its a zoo up there. Phil has lost the respect of his players. I'd bet that half of those guys came to tennessee for other reasons than playing for phil(nfl). Were heading for some bad times at tennessee in the near future and hamilton keeps setting on his hands. Hamilton better thank the lord he hired bruce pearl or that dipsheet would already be gone.

This crap is embarrassing and hurting us longterm. We better do something next year or get used to hanging around the bottom of the sec for as long as this crap continues.

That is laughable. Its dependance thats all. Our society sees it as acceptable therefore classifying it as a disease sounds better.Hah its a joke. Its worse than smoking pot, but thats illegal because they can't come up with a clever enough way to tax it. Its a sick twisted world.

It's obvious to any RATIONAL person on this board that Fulmer has done more than enough to get tossed to the curb. He would've been fired from any organization by now, even if he was the janitor.

The 1998 vols were good but Fulmer did not coach the vols to that title (I'll explain). Number one we got away with one at Syracuse (fact: pure luck). Florida missed a field goal (fact: floridas kickers are never that great but it wasnt missed because of Fulmer, it was luck). CLINT STOERNER, no need to go on about that game ( fact: not luck, but a pure act of God).

Florida St. quarterback Chris Weinke was out. Let me say this John Ward's final season this was a year of destiny no matter who our coach was. God helped the vols to the 1998-99 national title and for that im thankful. He has now turned away from the vols because of our crude heathen players, (half of whom are either past, present, or future criminals.)

So I ask this. What has Fulmer done since 1998? answer 2 SEC eastern divisions championships that we only won because teams that beat us stumbled and we happen to luck out. POINT OF POST: Fulmer has never been as good as advertised and he definitely sucks now.

I don't think you'll get to many arguements on whether phil is a great gameday coach. His track record against good teams speaks for itself. The stars lined up right for us in 98. That and the fact were a very good team. In this day and age the talent is more widespread putting more of a emphasis on coaching. This is were we are lacking and have lacked for sometime. We took maybe a small step offensively to remedy that. But there are to many other things that should be addressed that haven't been.

For those that don't think that drug addiction is a disease you are dead wrong. There are chemical changes in the body that alter the normal metabolism of cells and uptake of neurotransmitters that occur with drug abuse, including ETOH. There are family genetics that predispose one to be an "alcoholic" or drug addict. It is a disease that can be treated. I am sure that Lexvol has some great articles and info on the issue.

Call it what you want. You have to make up your mind you want to quit. No drug they can give will do it for you. Thats why its dependance and not a disease. It's in your head like it or not.

Chemical dependence withdraw can kill you without sedatives and mechanical ventilation (medical induced coma). The alcoholic needs to make the decision to quit but they need assistance. The DRUGS people take alter the normal make-up of the body so it is more than "in your head". Ironically, many of the effects of chemical dependence are in the brain.

I think worrying about what has happened in the past is just that: The PAST. We need to focus on the now, I am donating money for the present and the future. I would not like to see CPF fired or any action taken on him, I would like to see him conquer his ego and admit he has lost control of the program.

Seems to me that it is a rather large coincidence that when Coach Cut and TT left so did the structure on the team. The younger kids, looked at TT as a father figure, and the older more experienced kids looked at Cut as a leader on and off the field.

Now we bring on a coach who lacks experience and knowledge of how to control the egos of HS superstars. In Dean Smith's book he states the biggest challenge after recruiting is taking a young man whom avg 30+ pts in HS and was the superstar and breaking his ego to a controlled team environment. He states that it usually was a yearly process until the student-athlete could control it on his own. What has happened is these kids have come to a large university and there was a lapse in the ego-control and these kids went back to thinking they were larger then the University and it's history, as a whole.

I think after the season, EVEN with a national championship season (remember everyone is undefeated from the 1st game) CPF should look at his career, be proud of what he has accomplished and step down. I think we should move on to hire a disciplinarian (aka Coach K, Coack Knight or Coach O'leary)

(sidebar: I know O'Leary lied on an application, but he is known for discipline)

I don't dispute the fact you may need something for withdrawal. But the decision to quit is made by you. If it was as easy as taking a drug to recover from alcoholism then there wouldn't be as many around. I had a chemical dependance at one time. I made the decision to quit after waking up day after day feeling like sheet. I took no drugs to weem myself off of it. Cold turkey no, but a tapering off occurs first. Then you realize you don't need it to live. Most alcoholics are dealing with other issuses in their lives that lead them to drinking. I view a disease as something that needs drugs and doctors to help cure. Alcoholism doesn't fall into this category.

2006 Florida Gators. Fact: One big paw up in the air saved them against SC. That game was not won by Meyer, he just got lucky. Fact: A penalty on Tennessee that negated an interception return for a touchdown saved the Gators bacon. Even then Tennessee was driving late and was a missed block away from being in field goal range. Meyer didn't win that game with his gameday prowness, he got lucky.

2007 LSU Tigers. Fact: Tennessee had the Tigers on the ropes. LSU couldn't move the ball offensively. LSU needed many, many breaks in that game to win; and they got them. I don't think Miles coaching ability had anything to do with the 2007 SEC Championship game.

See the logic? Every National Title team has alot of breaks along the way that are not due to skilled coaching. I guess every National title winning team is just lucky. Right?

Nope not the 95 nebraska team. They came into your house ate your lunch, did bad things to your wife then left. But i get your point. Its not a one game or season thing its a body of work. Phil's body of work, though impressive to the eye was made mostly by beating lesser teams. He isn't a great gameday coach and he has proved it time and time again.

You are exceptionally delusional if you think God had anything to do with UT winning a NC. You can say that certain players had a lot to do with it but God? Everyone knows he's a bammer fan. How else did they win 14 titles?
