AD and OC solved

Nothing personal against Randy Sanders. I'm sure he still has fond memories of his almost 20 years at UT as player and Asst Coach. However, I doubt he has many pleasant memories of being the OC on Rocky Top. Fulmer fired Sanders only to be fired himself 3 years later. I would hope that both RS and VolNation have moved on.

I don't really see Sanders adjusting to Jones' philosophy on offense and he has carved out a nice spot for himself with Jimbo.

I have softened on him some over the years after he bounced back with KY and done well with Winston and FSU. Think he proved it wasn't all him that led up to getting fired in 2005.

Also don't know if he would want to come back to Knoxville. It got pretty nasty for him and his family at the end.

Butch would make a lot of fans very happy with the hiring of Randy Sanders. The favorite for AD is obviously Blackburn. Two positions - two home runs (oops, replace with football equivalent).

I am uncertain as to Sanders preferred style of offense and whether it matches Butch's, but I'm betting someone on the board knows the answer.

Sounds like someone has been eating to many MemberBerries...

Member the 90s.. Member Sanders? Yes Sanders was good!

Just because someone was not a "great" offensive coordinator in his first attempt at that role doesn't mean they can't grow as a coach.

Jimbo Fisher seems happy with him and he's an excellent evaluator of talent something this staff could use.

UT averaged 36 pts a game in 2016. Jones is right when he speaks of tweeking the offense. The o-line must improve because UT will be without Dobb's scrambling ability to fallback on. He ate Nebraska alive running from the pocket.

I found Volnation by way of firerandysanders.com.... that place thrived for several years. Once he was fired it died

Why in the world would Randy leave FSU working for Jimbo who signed a major contract extension to join the vols? makes no sense even if he were familiar with read option which he is not. I hate to see Sanders maligned - he was a great Vol - rotated some with Jeff Francis then learned under Phil and Cutcliffe as a coach. He recruited pretty well at KY - poached Randall Cobb and others. Then at FSU has had a great run. Randy is fixed in some people's minds as inferior to Cutcliffe which he was - but who isn't. Bobby Bowden could never replace Mark Richt as OC and Phil could not replace Cutcliffe successfully. Randy has had an extremely good career and I wish him only the best. One of Morristown and east Tennessee's finest. It is interesting that Phil tried to hire him for HC at ETSU.

Just because you want a square peg to fit into a round hole doesn't mean it will either.

Look at what FSU runs and that is basically what Sanders has done his whole career. It isn't the same offense Jones wants to run.

Do people forget that Randy was in love with the wide receiver screen pass? So much so that every team knew it was coming at least once each possession.

Your memory is flawed. Sanders got run out when Fulmer heard Cutcliffe was about to get fired at Ole Miss. After Cut got the Duke job, then he hired Clawson.

Not exactly accurate either.

Cut had already been fired, then hired at Notre Dame. Left soon after with the heart scare, and was dong part time radio commentary after TN football games when Sanders was finally fired.

You must not be very old or you must have a short memory. Randy Sanders couldn't have been more predictable if he put the play calls up on the jumbotron when he called them.

If you don't even know what style of offense he runs, how are you calling it a home run?

So basically you're saying Rockin' Randall Sanders, as a play caller, was a lot like Bajakian, Debord, Chaney etc...

It doesn't matter who is hired for any position at UT. Half the "fans", on this board, will not be satisfied with any hire. If you don't believe me, just wait until the first person is hired and watch this board react. Gonna be fun to watch.

No...We have already seen that movie before...you know the one where Fulmer fired him because he sucks...Sorry if I gave away the ending but it is what it is...Dead man walking if he makes that hire.

UT will hire some D-ck Head from Bammer to be AD.
Some D-ck Head from uf to be OC
And one more D-ck Head from Vandy to re-draw all the charts for the two D-ck Heads hired above to refer to so they can learn how Chit gets done around here.
