Butch would make a lot of fans very happy with the hiring of Randy Sanders. The favorite for AD is obviously Blackburn. Two positions - two home runs (oops, replace with football equivalent).

I am uncertain as to Sanders preferred style of offense and whether it matches Butch's, but I'm betting someone on the board knows the answer.

Does VolNation go back as far as the Randy Sanders years? If my memory is correct, he got run out for Dave Clauson, who, in a knee jerk move, tanked and took Fulmer down with him.

Sure he's got orange roots, but I'm pretty sure that dog has had his day on the hill.

I spit on even the THOUGHT of bringing in Randy Sanders. Cant tell you how many times I nearly broke the TV back in 2005

i always thought randy got a bad rap here. i think he was way better than he was probably allowed to be at times, and as his career has gone on, he's done just fine, and continued his success at other locations.

that said, he would not be a good hire at this point because his style of offense just doesn't mesh with what Jones does.

Sanders was horrible here under Fulmer and nearly got him fired until Cutcliffe came back and bailed him out for a couple of seasons.

You think you guys see a lot of bubble screens now, bring Sanders back.

Your memory is flawed. Sanders got run out when Fulmer heard Cutcliffe was about to get fired at Ole Miss. After Cut got the Duke job, then he hired Clawson.

Sanders got run out of town and was replaced by Cutcliffe.

He got run out for Cutcliffe to return. Only to leave 2 seasons later for Duke which paved the way for the Clawfense.

False. Cutcliffe came back and took Sander's place. Then, when Cutcliffe went to Duke, Clawson took over.

That being said, Sanders was not a good OC.

Nothing personal against Randy Sanders. I'm sure he still has fond memories of his almost 20 years at UT as player and Asst Coach. However, I doubt he has many pleasant memories of being the OC on Rocky Top. Fulmer fired Sanders only to be fired himself 3 years later. I would hope that both RS and VolNation have moved on.

To be honest, Florida State's formations and plays are not all that different, Butch just likes to run without a huddle and hurries things up. But that on it's own makes Sanders a bad fit for Butch.

I was told by a QB on the tam at the time Sanders was there Fulmer tied him up, he was the fall guy. Just passing along what I was told, maybe someone else can confirm or she'd different light. RS has done quite nicely at his other stops.
