Actually impressed by Crompton?

Well, impressed may be going a tad too far but I don't think too many people coming into the game would have expected him to have 259 yards and 0 INTS.

IMO he led one meaningful drive. The one before half time. YEE HAW, HE BE GOOD NOW!

You know your QB is bad when your cheering more for a decent punt then a 3rd down conversion...

Also, I agree our WR's are worthless, like seriously, make your arms grow like a foot or two and CATCH THE BALL. And what's with QH not catching the ball with his ears. It was thrown PERFECTLY to his head!! I mean i've heard of needing to get, "your head into the game," but come on.

Why are you here? in every thread you post the same dribble about JC. Everyone on this board who has ever read one of your posts, knows exactly what you're going to say. If you are a fan, you are the worst example of one on here. Lawgator even has more positive comments then you, and everyone knows he is a Gator. Just because everyone does not side with you on Stephens being a better QB then Crompton, or should be playing for next year, is either blind or a Cromptonite. I have never been a fan of either QB, but I am going to support my team. The HC has made his decision on who is the QB, the assistant coaches support said decision. If JC gets hurt and Stephens comes in and plays well, it still will not change my mind on either QB or the coaches decision. And no I am not a Kiffinite either, he was not my first or second choice. I am happy with the staff he has assembled, and the players he has recruited. This team plays with much more heart and discipline and has had no off the field issues. Bash it, flame it, support it but at least find something else to harp about.

Crompton reminds me of a song.....

"If your gonna be dumb, you better be tough."

As far as football goes........... I think it fits him well.

And throw the ball 41 times. For a struggling QB, the coaching staff asked a lot.

You are either totally delusional and absorbed in your hatred for Crompton or else know as much about football as an Asian mail order bride.

I think sometimes they hold Crompton back too much...If all he is throwing is swing passes and screens then when he has to take a shot down field he is not going to be accurate....
I know, I know...He is not very accurate anyway but really what choice do we have...We have a better chance of moving the ball through the air with 8-9 in the box then we do running the ball...I think if Crompton could come out and make a pass like he did to Stocker early in the game it might force teams to back off the line a little bit...Otherwise its going to stay an all out blitz on him every passing down....

What about all of those wide open crossing routes where Crompton consistently threw behind the receivers? I guess you're just ignoring those.

What about those perfectly thrown passes that hit receivers in the numbers or hands and were dropped? I guess you're just ignoring those

I been saying this. the kid can throw a freakin bullet pass. he just cant seem to hit the target 90% of the time. I think had he been coached by kiffin the past few seasons, that he would be a awesome QB. Its just now its to late for him. I think by the end of the season he will be a decent qb, sadly its just to late.

Accuracy is hard to improve upon because accuracy is a function of strong fundamentals, and it is difficult (not impossible, but very time consuming) to significantly change fundamentals. Crompton's accuracy is God-awful, and it would take a seriously long time period to have any hope of changing that.

Nope. The receivers were terrible as well. However, the fact that the wide receivers may drop one or two of the four or five decent passes that Crompton manages to make out of every ten passing attempts does not excuse the other five or six passes that are atrocious.

I am really excited about the GA game. I think Crompton will come out and have a consistent game. I think the running game will dominate, but I think some will be surprised with Crompton's accuracy.

I wouldn't go placing any wagers on that if I were you.

I am with you. No way you lay this loss on Crompton's shoulders.

I actually put this one on him more than the others. He missed those crossing routes early creating several very short drives or 3 and outs. That in turn helped wear the D out.

Had he been hitting those "easy" passes, it would have opened up the run game and given UT a clear ball control advantage. That in turn would have left the D fresh and Auburn wouldn't have been as effective against them. It would have also changed Malzahn's play calling. He wouldn't have run the ball as much.

The drops were bad but the timing of his crossing route misses was very critical.

I agree with this assessment. The fact of the matter is that Auburn had this game well in hand (largely due to Crompton's atrocious start) before Crompton ever decided to show up. This seems to be a pattern that is developing too. Against both Florida and Auburn Crompton played his best ball when the game was all but decided (and, therefore, no real pressure existed anymore - kind of like practice).

Necessity is the mother of invention.

I don't really think that is the case here. Crompton had almost as many pass attempts in the 1st half as he did the entire game versus Florida. It seemed to me that Kiffin clearly for whatever reason came in with a different gameplan. I don't know if he had more confidence in Crompton or just thought they could exploit some of Auburn's weaknesses on defense. But he didn't seem to want to use the pound the rock, ball control strategy they used against Florida.

During the second half.. even if the game was out of reach.. i saw Crompton actually pass the ball down field. I was mildly impressed with his improvement. Also, he had no INTs..

He did seem to struggle with timing. I felt like Cromptons second half performance held keep his starting job. I don't know if it was the offensive play calling or what, but i felt like we out matched AU when we were in the 5 wide set.

Then you'd be impressed with a sack of cow dung in a room full of supermodels.....

It's pretty sad that we're encouraged after that performance, which I'll admit he had times that he looked better. But it's also pretty said that 5 games into a 5th year senior's final season we're still talking about him "coming around" and "rounding the corner".

I think the issue goes beyond consistency and talent with Crumpton. It comes down to the fact that he just does not have the mind to play quarterback in the SEC.

Agree about the pressure thing but it is also a possible indictment of the way CLK is approaching the game. He isn't letting JC take chances until he has no choice. He's trying to not let JC lose it early on but that has its own set of problems not the least of which is JC's/the receivers' recognition that he has little faith in them.

Could be that CLK needs to come out slinging the ball downfield in a no huddle to start the UGA game... Could be UT's only shot at winning.

I think all involved need to forget about failing and just start taking some risks with confidence. Fulmer was known for playing not to lose. I think JC is playing not to make mistakes rather than playing to make plays.
