Didn't say that boss. Said we would pay 4 million for a qb if our coaches felt he was worth it. If arch manning left Texas for us we would pay 4 million. Not for Nico who threw 19 tds and 11 came against vandy, utep, utc.

Remember when Dabo didn't want to play the NIL game and people laughed.
It's a cancer and will continue to be until guidelines / caps are established.

But IMHO the portal is an even bigger issue. Teams in the final four dealing with an open portal. Ridiculous

I didn't say that one way or another, now did I? I'm just saying that they didn't stand in principal about not paying that amount. You can shake your fist at the sky about all you want, it's not changing until they put some guidelines in place, but then you're just gonna have schools paying some under the table. Like the good ole days.

Hendon Hooker would’ve qualified as a mercenary and produced numbers in 2 seasons only matched by Peyton.

There is a difference in paying a elite player than paying a player top dollar after 2 average to slightly above average years. Players trying to get much more than their worth isn’t going to happen here and most places.

Can't tell if you're serious or not, but I'd say 50/50. I've seen him with some big misses and then be ahead of some things. He was saying Lanier was coming 3 months before bball season was over last year. He's off a lot too. Also, being connected and being right/having the right info aren't always the same thing. The thing is if a guy comes out and says he's hearing something very early then he gets accused of storing stuff up. If a guy says he was hearing things after the fact, then he's accused of jumping on after the fact. Like Nakos from on3 his sources were right on, but because it was "anonymous", simpletons laughed it off and cussed him out. (I'm not comparing the 2)

I'm not so sure you would even call Hendon a mercenary.

To hear Pruitt tell it-in the last days of Jeremys employment here Hooker just kind of showed up in Knoxville and they took him lol

That seems more like a gift from the Gods than a mercenary.

I'm sure if it was known how things were going to play out-quite a few programs would have cracked their checkbook open for HH.

Athletes should be paid. Problem is there are no guardrails whatsoever. Portal is ridiculous. I think there should be some reasonable pay for athletes and some reasonable expectations of loyalty as well. What we have now is the worst of everything.

I would like for us to demonstrate success sticking to our recruiting plans and staying loyal to the commitments the program has made. We have stacked a series of very good QB recruits. My bias is to stick with a progression at QB and look for mercenaries at positions that have less impact on team cohesion.
