According to the latest Scout.com recruiting rankings, the Vols are ranked:

28th in the NCAA

12th in the SEC

Kameron Miles has committed to T A&M after de-committing from the Vols. My fear is, that if Hart does not get his head out of the sand and hire an SEC-caliber coaching staff... Miles will be just the first - of the best of our recruits - to make the decision to go to better-coached programs.

I have been a Big Orange fan for about fifty years, and I have never felt the need for a coaching change as badly I do now. Yeah, it was time for Fulmer to go, but he could coach rings around Dudley Dooley... at least his teams could beat Vandy and Kentucky consistently.

I've been watching UT recruiting for about 50 years, and know its a long way to NSD, but unless Hart does something about the coaching staff, our recruiting will continue to go down the toilet.

Go Big Orange!!!

It'll happen. Even if we had a coach recruits would prob decommit with the change in coaching staffs.

Head coaching change or not, we are looooong way from NSD. Commits are going to change a great deal for a number of reasons so worrying about it now won't get you very far.

Recruiting season has been filled with drastic posts about where we were before NSD. After the signings, it always has seemed to improve dramatically and the chicken little folks disappear. If this was March, those numbers would mean something. Today they mean virtually nothing.

There's gonna be a lot of change with our class over next couple months regardless of who the next HC is. Hopefully it changes for the better. Hell, can't get much worse in the league.

I agree. This is expected given all the turmoil and I'm not worried about it at this point. If we get a homerun hire (i.e., Gruden), we could land an awesome class. And even a really solid hire (e.g., Strong) could result in top 10-15 class. Lot's still to be decided.

NSD is February 6, 2013 (I think--as long as it's still the first Wednesday in Feb).

Long ways away.

Just relax. Some of you people need some Ritalin judging by the way you get all worked up about recruting when NSD is so far off.

Anyone worried about recruiting at this point doesn't really understand recruiting.

Miles was hoping for an offer from A&M. When he got it, he jumped on it. So this one is a little different. I do see your point though. I hope the announcement comes right after the KY game, but who knows how long it will take for a hire. I think the powers that be will fork over whatever it takes to get a "home run" coach.

I think most of us are just hopeful for this. Hopefully they have learned their lesson!

Sounds about right...recruiting pretty much goes as your record goes. There are not many gifted High School Athletes that want to go to a losing program such as UT's. Hopefully we can salvage some recruiting when we name the new HC and his staff, depending on who we get as HC can make a significant difference. If we don't get a name brand coach we'll probably be at the bottom of the conferance indefinately.....sad....sad...but thats life sometimes, unfortunately.

No sense in looking at our ranking until after signing day. I'd imagine we're gonna fall some more but finish in the top 20. Don't be a day-trader Vol fan. Think long-term.

I agree... 2.5 months is too much time to allow Dooley to continue to mess up recruiting with his lame excuses... and recruiting 2 star and non-ranked prospects - especially if other quality recruits follow Miles' lead.

75% of the class has already committed

and 0% have signed. We can't really do much about a new coach until after the regular season. So firing Dooley this minute will change very little as far as recruiting goes. Remember when Fulmer was fired about this time 4 years ago. Recruiting took a hit then too.

Last recruiting period, we lost Santos to A & M. and we really wanted him, so he was no "after thought" to us.
Now, we lose Miles to A & M.

Get the right coach in here by the end of December and we will be fine.

Dooley will not get a good class in here if he somehow survives.

Unless we find a new coach this is something to worry about. I know you guys are saying National signing day is in February but if we don't get a new coach this class won't get better. You guys have to remember players want to win games so if another school gives them a better shot then they are going to take it

With the current outlook and recruits dropping like flies.. including our prized beloved Miles decommiting and subsequently commiting to another SEC school.. if you aren't concerned, you are a fool. Something good better happen soon cause the 2013 recruiting ship is going down fast.
