According to Sports Illustrated, Tennessee is not a "destination" job

I would have to say the only way Alabama is on that list has to do with big money saban.

I thought that article was a kind of dumb. The 'destination' jobs were all the jobs that have the best coaches. He even says Oklahoma wasn't a 'destination' job when Stoops got there but it is now. He makes a similar statement when describing USC and Carroll. He downgrades the SEC schools like Alabama and Florida because the SEC has tougher competition but that has actually helped SEC schools win national titles the last few years as they were voted into the national title game despite losses on their record.

It seems like a destination job should be based on the opportunity to win championships rather than on how good the current coach is.

I don't disagree with Alabama being on the list but rather where they are ranked on it. They are not the "golden standard" in my opinion.

The revenue that program brings in is extraordinary. Didn't Tennessee football rake in about 87 mil or so last year?
not sure about either one's revenue. but imo revenue isn't a key factor for a potential coach.

Why is Ohio State on there? How many times they gotta lose the NC to an SEC team?

I dont think that has much, if anything, to do with the prestige of coaching there.

And I am sick of hearing writers or "journalists" say the fact that the SEC is the best and most competitive conference is somehow a "deterrent" to coaches. I dont want a coach who is afraid of competition.

This guy must have started watching CFB 6-8 years ago. But that wouldn't explain FSU. So he must just be dumb. No SEC schools in the so called "platinum standard". What a joke.

Florida more of a regional player than a national power under the Zooker. His tenure helped to tarnish the short-lived luster of the Spurrier Dynasty.

I agree with you there. How sought after was CUM before going to UF?

TUOS has beaten 1 good team (TX 06) in the past 4 or 5 years

Are you serious?

I mean, I am an SEC homer too....but that statement is just false. Would you seriously not switch records with them over the past 4-5 years?? I know its the "in" thing to hate OSU for SEC fans.....but you should probably closely examine the accomplishments of your own team before acting like they are a joke or something.

Notre Dame wanted him as badly as Florida. The guy pumped life into both Bowling Green and Utah in a short time span. I can't argue with how successful CUM is. I just can't stand his arrogant ass.

How in the world do you have UGA on there and not UT? It seems like this guy is basing it solely on the last 2 years only. And ND is not a "destination" job, IMO....they will never dominate in football there again like they used to....not even close. Way too many heavy hitters now....it sickens me how ND can still claim to be some football heavy weight when they havent won jack in 15+ years.
