According to Jimmy Hyams...

We have a lot of stupid people making comments and starting rumors. The players need support if nothing else. I believe the vitriol on this board has contributed as much to this bad season as much as coaching mistakes. Players read this garbage and cannot help but be affected by it.

Players are told to shut out the noise. Not just here, but at every program. Some do quite well. Some don't. The key is the staff keeping the players focused so their play silences the noise.

But I agree it is better for the players to see the fans as people they want to play for rather than a sore pimple on their butts.

Haven?t been on in a while. Been really disgusted with all thing UT and just haven?t been interested, but how much if any truth to the bowl game clause? Rumor I?ve seen and heard is jones contract has a clause that states if he doesn?t make a bowl game buyout would decrease. Doesn?t sound legit but who knows? Would definitely explain what is taking so long.

You “believe the vitriol on this board has contributed as much to this bad season as much as coaching mistakes”??? Lol.

That’s easily the dumbest thing I’ve read in a month.

If this were at all true our incompetent leader should ban all social media use then again he'd have to be competent to do so.

You might have had something if you said reading this board made things worse for Jones having to see Gruden over and over

There are threads like this for 4 weeks now. CBJ has to be fired after the next opponent. Since it hasn't happened already, I believe it won't happen till after the season. JMO

Then we might as well just move to another conference. Getting worked week in and week out isn't good for anything. Butch has been awful for 2 seasons now regardless.

If not for an incredible amount of luck Jones would be looking at 2 losing seasons at Tennessee consecutively

I don't agree when you say 2 years and I don't lay the blame solely on him for this one. I believe, and underscore "I" that these 4* and 5* talent did not work out, at least this year. I think a lot, including me, expected a better season, but it didn't happen. These players did not do ALL they could to be better.

If I recall correctly, when I played football, we had our good days and bad and it could always be linked to how we as team practiced and off the field work. I don't see that in this team as a Whole. Sure there are a few bright spots, but we have to start looking at performance on field. If your making Ds and Fs in the class.........is it the teacher's fault? no, and the same goes for these players. They are not executing and trying hard to compete at a SEC Level. It can't ALL be laid at the feet of CBJ. I've seen enough this year to say, this team is mediocre because of how they approached practice and preparation. No, Coach Jones is getting a bad rap for players who do not have the right attitude..........Hurd caused a lot of decent last year and it showed up at the South Carolina game and it flowed over to Vanderbilt. CBJ recovered and took them to a win over the 9th best defense in the country.....and pretty much kicked their @$$.

So, everyone can sit back and point their finger at the coaches, but I see what is going on, and these guys gave up on each other especially the OL and WRs, the defensives were eating their lunch and taking their girlfriends. Sorry, but this is a very physical sport and if you can't take a few bumps and bruises......go to a FCS team.

No Currie is sitting on his hands.

You, nor I, have a clue what Currie is doing behind the scenes. He could be working his ass off working on Butch's replacement. And probably is. There's a reason he has the AD job and we don't. I think Currie is a savvy guy and make a great hire.

Hyams says exactly what the AD wants said. That’s all. He plays by the rules..... and gets the best access. He is a puppet and the AD department has their hand up his butt directing him what to say.

Both he and Mike Griffin are talking mouth pieces for the UTAD and the politburo. I had forgot about what a guy said on the radio earlier. Hyams said the day before Kiffin was hired that Kiffin would not be the coach at Tennessee.

So Jones recruited stupid, lazy and or problem kids that are making Ds and Fs and its not his fault because he's the teacher in this example.

Ive read some stupid $#i+ on this board over the years, but wow..

Yep, always the fans' fault. What a ridiculous post.

Jimmy Hyams is the absolute, undisputed king of "I do not know that." Seriously, he says that about 322 times a show. Turn that into a drinking game if you want to get drunk in under 30 minutes.
