According to Jimmy Hyams...

Because it's homecoming. Because some people only get to one game a year. Because some people only get to ONE game ever.

Because some people want to cheer for the players while they're on the field.

Lots of reasons people will be there.
Boom, mic drop.

Mike Leach to Tennessee

I think Mike Leach would be a good hire but most people, on this site, think he's too quirky. I suggested Leach before Butch was hired and we see what he has done and what Butch has done.

I wish it weren't true, but if he goes 8-4 he will be coaching UT in 2018. book it.

Well that aint happening, so I guess that solves that.

Be damn lucky to be 6-6, I prefer 5-7 so we can move on

This tells me that the AD has not found a replacement as of yet, or they do not want to name that person. This season is going no where anyway. I just want him to win at least two more games. The AD needs to understand the harm he is causing this program.

I bet that there is a replacement.... They have probably gotten a list together and have a 3rd party reach out to coaches that are on their wish list. but, I doudt that there has been any serious talks with any coach at all.
Imagine that a 3rd party talks to the current coach of Michigan State. The coach mentions it to his wife that the 3rd party contacted him concerning the Tennessee job. Then the wife tells people in their extended family. Maybe she mentions it to her sister in California, then the sister mentions it to someone in her church, so forth & so on.... Now the whole world knows about it and it would be on ESPN or other outlets.

We will wait until the last minute to fire bUTch, while other programs already have started a serious look to replace their coach. Thus, we hire the bottom of the barrel again.

If the question of whether or not to keep your coach hinges on a win or a loss over Kentucky, then the AD should be fired as well; that game should never be a litmus test for a coach at UT.

I hope this isn't true, but Jimmy Hyams said that Butch might stay if the loss to Kentucky is close. I must admit, this is not very reassuring.

If he loses to Kentucky period, he should not be allowed to even set foot on UT's campus. Don't yall agree?

So, WILL Butch Jones actually be fired in the next five weeks?

And if we agree, what damn difference does it make?

Inasmuch as you might believe griping and carrying on with the normal knee jerk reactions will effect change, I seriously believe it makes those who can do something about it turn a deaf ear, and go slower.

If you had that kind of influence you would be calling other boosters instead of posting your displeasure online. Has it worked so far? No? Maybe if we stop calling for Butch's head, maybe that will speed up the process. Cause getting all wounded knee about it sure as Hell hasn't worked so far.

Sad if were accepting close losses now as a reason to keep a coach a little longer. Currie has been disappointing.

This is frightening

The thoughts of Jones being around after humiliating the program is sickening and I doubt empty seats will change anything

So, if he wins, its ok that he stays. BTW, I am in support of Butch, anyone can have a bad year is college football, especially these days. Its not the 90s anymore, and some of you just have to face the truth. Tennessee is NOT going to fire Butch, if he goes 7-5, he is safe, next year might be a different story, but 2017...he would have to lose to everyone from here on out to get fired. So, start burning mattresses and stomp your feet, stop coming to the games and throw away your UT stuff.......cause it doesn't and will not make a difference. UT is not going to add another $8 million to their pay outs. I don't know where everyone thinks that the boosters are going to pay $8 million and turn around and hire another coach and pay him $5+........not going to happen....so, get over it.....this year goes down as one of UT's worst......oh well....like other schools haven't had this situation.

Go Vols!

Then we might as well just move to another conference. Getting worked week in and week out isn't good for anything. Butch has been awful for 2 seasons now regardless.

If not for an incredible amount of luck Jones would be looking at 2 losing seasons at Tennessee consecutively

I just don't see anyway he goes 8-4. He's absolutely the worst coach in the SEC, and I can't see anyway he wins out. Fact is if not for Josh Dobbs he would have been fired last year.

We have a lot of stupid people making comments and starting rumors. The players need support if nothing else. I believe the vitriol on this board has contributed as much to this bad season as much as coaching mistakes. Players read this garbage and cannot help but be affected by it.

In bold is where you went off the reservation. That so called third party might call the coach, but without an offer, there is nothing to pass on. Any coach with professional ethics knows you or your wife don't discuss hypothetical offers with mouthy Aunt Gladys, the church janitor, your barber's mechanic, the neighborhood dog that chases squirrels up your tree or anyone else. (Well, the squirrels might be OK.)

Just because our current president gives out too much information on social media doesn't mean coaches will get away with doing that. Remember when Saban was with the Dolphins, and how many time he denied he would ever coach at Alabama? Guys like that get high profile job. Guys you are talking about end up coaching youth league.

Then we have a lot bigger problems. The coaching mistakes caused the fans being pissed.
