51. Tennessee Volunteers (Previous ranking: 47)

Why Tennessee can win: The Vols can get to the rim, and do a good job on the glass and getting to the free throw line. Jordan McRae can go for 30 in any given game.

Why Tennessee can lose: Tennessee plays hard, but does not shoot the ball well from the perimeter and is inconsistent on the defensive end.

Wins: Alabama (H), Kentucky (H), Florida (H), Missouri (H)

Losses: Oklahoma State (N), Georgetown (A), Virginia (A), Memphis (H), Mississippi (H, A), Alabama (A), Kentucky (A), Arkansas (A), Georgia (H, A)

In his ranking the best 68 teams

You copy that wrong?
Wins should include Wichita St , not Bama.

Witchita State was ranked when we beat them. So it should be a quality win....GBO....

They're also an rpi 1-50 team.
Incidently, TN has the 2nd highest winning percentage among the bubble teams against rpi 1-50 teams.
VA is first, but the rest of their resume would gag a maggot.

Except for the arsewhoopin they handed us

And yes, 8 points is officially a whoopin when it is greater than 20% of your point total. At that rate it would have taken a 9 minute UVA scoreless period for us to catch them.

He actually moved us down from last week. We beat auburn on the road and Mizzou at home and people seem to think less of us...

I just don't get it. He also has UK like 10 spots above us. Pretty stupid from a guy I normally like

I still dont get all the "KY love" after we put a beatdown on them and then we beat Tex. A&M on the road, FL and Mizzou. KY beats FL in the last reg season game and all of a sudden they jump like 20 spots..... Geeez!

Agreed. Makes absolutely no sense. They are 4-3 post Noel. Including 2 losses to non bubble teams and a blowout loss to a certain big orange.

More overall wins?

Higher rpi?

Finished 2nd in the league?

All those get them in ahead of us IMO.

Our body of work vs. their body of work says otherwise. SOS and Top 50 wins counts more than what place you finish in your conference.

Perhaps that's correct but when the committee is looking for a reason to put the defending champion into the field that's plenty of ammo IMO.

I have argued this too much to do it again. I will leave it at this. I sure hope you are correct.

They have one meaningful win out of conference and that was Maryland, and it is a stretch that it is a meaningful win. They are 7-9 against Top 100; we are 9-9. Also, league records aren't as meaningful these days because of the unbalanced schedules- Kentucky played Auburn twice along with Florida. I really don't see how their résumé is better than ours. Historically, the committee has considered injuries. If they don't get in, you can also look at Noel's injury.

Does Kentucky have a better road record than us? I know they have a bigger road win than us but overall do beat us in that area?
