Has anybody heard the proposed details of the Schiano deal? How much were we about to shell out for a head coach that barely broke .500 at RUTGERS??????
(Actually I guess we are about to shell out to NOT coach us)

Peyton did approve and sign off on this. That’s not a knock on him, and doesn’t make him a bad guy- only that he doesn’t have a handle on the right fit now. I spoke with a few in the media this morning and that’s the same story they had.

I'm not sure i care who signed off on this hire and not saying PM didn't but it seems odd that he would be on board to hire a guy he cursed after an NFL game. On the field. To his face.

Maybe he did but not sure I'm buying it based on Hyams and Swain.

Idk but I doubt Hyams heard that from Peyton. Most likely the AD or someone associated with Haslam told him that.

At most I can see them telling Peyton this is who they're going to hire and him saying whatever.

Not that I know whether PM signed off or not, but how does Ainge know that he didn't sign off anymore than Austin Price (the source saying PM did sign off) knows that he did?

You're demanding proof of something but have no proof of your own opinion to stand on either. In those situations, it most often means you are believing what/who you want to believe. Is Ainge anymore credible than Price? And if so, where is his proof?

Again, I'm not saying I believe any of them. To me, it's obvious that no one knows what is going on over on the Hill anymore.

Don't believe a word Jimmy Hyams says. He's working for the Haslams. He wants to bring Peyton Manning into this as a cover for the Haslams' decision to hire Schiano. They wanna use Peyton as cover because of the good will he has with the fan base.

Despicable strategy IMO.

Not sure how Swain would know. But I do know there has been some bad blood between Peyton and Schiano. Just read an article from when he was at TB, apparently he was coaching guys to dive at Peytons legs when they were trying to knee the ball late in a game. He did it to Eli too earlier in the year.

Am I the only one that thinks needing the approval of CPF and PM is absurd? I can perhaps understand letting PM know ahead of time, but needing his sign off?

First, I would not want a job where I can't make a decision without getting approval from others. Second, I seriously doubt CPF would qualify as requiring sign-off before a coach is hired.

If this is in fact the case, then isn't this part of our problem. Everyone is all over Haslam and his involvement yet we want CPF and PM to approve as well. Hell, let's create a poll on VN so we can chime in before a coach is hired. Actually, LOL, that would have saved Currie a lot of grief.

What I want is a competent AD that can make decisions (good ones) and not be a puppet to Haslam, PM or anyone else.

Why wouldn't you want them to sign off? They're suppose to be the checks and balances.

Let me know the deep knowledge of football Currie/Haslam have compared to PF and PM?

Not sure we will ever know for sure if PM signed off on this or not. There are plenty out there willing to do whatever it takes so that his reputation is not tarnished

I guess I'm confused, I didn't realize our AD had to have the depth of football knowledge that CPF and PM does to hire a quality coach. :crazy:
