Thanks! Any info on the best dorms? I know the one that the football players stay in is now.. 1/2 atheletes and 1/2 us normal students. Heard their meals are 2x the regular meals for normal price if you dorm there. But it's a further trip to classes. Any good info?

theres a few threads from the last few years about dorms/other tips. Search for those because they helped me when I was looking through them.

And you won't get in Gibbs, I don't think any freshman (besides athletes) get in...

On my visit, they said that freshmen are starting to get in Gibbs. Presidential sounds better though ahah.

Welcome to UT, I'll see you around. Definitely recommend staying in Presidential, therefore North Carrick or Reese. I stayed in Carrick, good location. All the dorms are pretty much the same

Lot's of stuff going on out towards Presidential, but Clement's pretty good too. Tad-bit closer to the strip and UC.

Congrats! Enjoy it while you can. Your four (or five, or however long it takes) years flies by very quickly!

Hess Hall, AKA the Zoo. When I was there it was a crazy place. No AC so summers were tough (I have heard they have AC now.)

Reece is the "nicest" and is next to the Presedential Courtyard. North Carrick is second. Clement is good too, it has its own cafeteria (so does Hess).

UT has much higher standards than it did when I was there in the early 90's but many have said the early 90's were the golden years of the party life at UT. I don't disagree. Take advantage of your opportunity. Have fun but remember the next 4 years will greatly determine your life. Make it count!

If I could do it over again I would buckle down more freshman year. I had one bad semester in college and it hurt my gpa pretty bad.
