100% agree. NC State would also be more aligned with the SEC than Duke or Carolina. If conference expansion were more about making sense geographically I would be ok with WVU joining the league as well. A Northeastern part of the SEC with Tennessee, Kentucky, VT and West Virginia would pretty cool IMO. I realize that’s it’s based on brands and eyeballs on screens, but it would be fun and the brands match.

It's such an obviously interesting angle that I'm surprised hasn't been pursued more. Urban encouraged Tebow and the Pouncey twins to be a positive influence for him. Tebow was at the bar with a bunch of other UF players that night during Hernandez's freshman year (and he was underage) where he busted a guy's eardrum with a punch, and supposedly appealed to Meyer on multiple occasions not to kick him off the team.

That kind of stuff contrasts with the media image/narrative of Tebow, which is probably why those angles haven't really been pursued.

It would be something HBO or a company like that could pursue, because it will make Tebow look more fallible, just more human, than his legend. Tebow would be a very tangential figure for sure. Fixing Hernandez was never going to happen.

Hernandez is so scummy, it would challenge any documentarian to find sources willing to talk about a lot of the crimes and incidences.

Yeah - there definitely is a certain media outlet who would pursue that angle, but good luck to them finding anybody to talk. Tebow surely wouldn't sit for it.
Tebow isn't a hypocrite for being at a bar with Hernandez, or asking Urban to not kick him off the team. However, I cannot recall a single time where Tebow was even asked a question about Hernandez, which is just so unusual given the interest in Hernandez and the fact they were college teammates. It just seems like an obvious attempt to keep his name as far away from him as possible.

Honestly, I haven’t really heard Tebow talk much about Urban in a long time, and that was someone who always spoke glowingly about the Meyer family and vice versa. Urban has made it pretty difficult for people to defend him over the years.

That's a great point - everybody wanted to talk about Urban there for a while too, especially after his Ohio St and Jax exits...and I don't recall anybody asking Tebow about Urban either. There definitely is a concerted effort to stop associating him with Urban too, even though they had a super close relationship in college.

That was such a wild team - you had this total motley crew of guys (Hernandez, Urban, Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes, Carlos Dunlap, etc.) and Tebow. lol

That Florida team had quite the rap sheet… and Tebow kind of balanced it out. He was in Gainesville granting indulgences to the group as long they didn’t associate with him any longer .

Assuming that these 7 have Notre Dame on board, it would seem that they have enough votes to disband the conference, which I would think would negate the GoR. But perhaps the contract isn't with the conference as a whole, but is with each individual member (meaning the remaining 7 would get to split the media rights of the exiting 8).

I’m not sure how that works and I’m not sure how Notre Dame gets a vote as a partial member. It sounds like the thought all along would be if you get enough dominoes to fall then it will all collapse. FSU and Clemson are the ones beating the drum the loudest, and have been for the longest amount of time because they have the most to lose competitively.

Notre Dame is actually a full member despite being independent in football. Their vote counts the same as the other 14.

It really pisses me off that they appease their “needs” so much. Pretty damn remarkable for a team that hasn’t won anything in 35 years and continually gets blown out on the biggest stages. It’s time for everyone to force Notre Dame’s hand and join a conference. In all honesty it should be the B1G. They have a ton of natural rivals, especially now that USC is in the B1G. That puts USC, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana and Northwestern all as natural rivals, plus throw in Ohio State bc people love that game.

That is the way I’m seeing it. You did notice that NC State was on there? There are some rumblings that lawmakers would make it very difficult to take one without the other.

I’ve said it before on here, it’s a long shot, but I could see Duke landing in the Big 12 if it doesn’t get an invite to the B1G. I just don’t see Duke getting an SEC invite. It would be a bad fit all the way around . IMO The biggest loser will be Wake Forest . I’ve had that our boy John Currie is having a not so good time down at Amelia Island this week.

I kind of wish the SEC did take them. I’m a big proponent of rivalry games and preserving them. Do you know if there is any chance that Bedlam will still be played on an annual basis, or did OU’s move basically destroy that relationship?

I don't think the Big10+4 would see UNC as desirable if they also have to add NCSU.

NCSU athletic revenue is below all the current members and they don't field teams in all the snobby sports like lacrosse, field hockey, etc.

NC State is a national title winning bass fishing school, as well as excelling in other competitive games, such as corn hole and can jam. The corn hole championships won at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center alone should be enough to secure a positive vote from Ohio State.

I don't want the conference to expand, but it seem inevitable now.

The two North Carolina school are good gets. Lots of talent, TVs, and resources in NC now.
Clemson looks good to keep the B1G out of the region.
UVA would never join the SEC. They fit the B1G.
VATech is not my first choice, but no other choices in VA. It is too huge and it is a wealthy state to be in the South.
I don't want FSU and Miami in the SEC. If we have to take one, it should be FSU. Inviting Miami would be a mattress burning level event.

I hope no one brings up WVU. They bring nothing but banjos.

I read about it back when OkieST and OK were talking about moving to the Pac12 with TX @2011.

I honestly wouldn’t mind WVU being in the league from a culture standpoint. Especially if Virginia Tech joined the league . Tennessee, UK, Virginia Tech and West Virginia would be an interesting Northeastern pod of the SEC. You are right about the banjos though.

Miami has no business being the SEC. AT ALL. NONE.

I think it'll happen eventually. I don't think they'll be petulant like TX/A&M or Mizzou/Kansas.
