And there it is. One of the first "blame Kiffin" statements.
Larry you are giving me ncaa eligibility rules but my question is if a student has been on academic probation for a semester do they get the summer or are they removed from school by the university? Not an ncaa question

If they do not meet UT academic requirements at the end of spring semester they will not be given summer semester to make it up. To remain eligible to stay in school the next semester you must maintain a 2.0 if you are on academic probation, anything less and you (as we used to say) flunk out.
I understand the number of hours that football players put in. I had classes with a lot of them. One of our linemen that was an AA in high school bought me a drink on my graduation night. He's a great guy - as are most of the players. Not to get off on a rabbit trail, but Chris Walker is on FCA staff now - AWESOME. I love it. Anyway, back to GPAs. I understand it can be hard - but if you're a medical student, you know what you're getting into and realize the time it will take and the expectations. Same with Engineering or Architecture. These football players (should) know that there are expectations when they are in college, and even if it is hard to get that 2.0, (which I am sure it can be for some if you are a football player) you have to do it. Now, I was never a fan of CLK, but I love what he had to say about this issue - (paraphrasing) - "I'm not gonna tell these kids to make grades their #1...Football is their #1, grades are #2..but in order to get #1, you have to do #2"...That isn't the exact quote, but it shows the point he was making. If they want it bad enough - they will get it. Looking forward to this fall. GBO.
Side note - I'm an intern in Washington, D.C. and a VFL. If anyone wants to help me out with a job, feel free!
Per Hyams:
* 30 players were on academic probation from the fall semester, 24 on scholarship. Of the 24, nine were starters and two others did not participate in the spring for academic reasons: Cory Miller and Jerquari Schofield. Another, Arthur Jeffery, has left the program. Miller is likely to return, Schofield is not, a source said.
* Nine scholarship players were on the 3.0 honor roll in the fall and 13 had a cumulative GPA above a 3.0.
* The 1.9 GPA among scholarship players was considerably less than in the fall of 2010 (2.37), 2009 (2.31) and 2008 (2.18).
* Of the 13 seniors-to-be, 10 had a 2.0 GPA or better. Of the 31 juniors-to-be, nine had a GPA of 2.0 or better and seven earned six or fewer hours. Of the 25 in the 2011 recruiting class, 15 had a 2.0 or better and four failed to earn more than six hours.
Failed to earn more than 6 hours? Ouch.
Shut up Assmanbruno. You troll. You are obviously trying to spread negativity around the program. I need at least ten sources to believe any of this has happened. It's much ado about nothing anyways. They'll all fix their problems before next season.
/sarcasm.
So if 2 sat out the game for academic reasons, am I not to assume that the other starters on probation from the fall have straightened it out? If not, why did they play?
