Absurd SEC East Preview

We just have to win games. Period. Winning cures all ills. Every team that has beaten us over the last decade can talk, and, until we reverse it, we really should be keeping our mouths shut. As Hank Jr said "A little less talk and a lot more action"

Chaney and Ansely were about as good of hires as you could ask for going into the season. I'm relatively optimistic that we should hit the bare minimum of 6-6.
Agreed. I also think the folks who believe this is an 8-4 or 9-3 team are grossly underestimating how difficult replacing both tackles with true freshmen and the near entirety of the defensive line will be.

I am cautiously optimistic about the upcoming year. If we avoid injuries and have a few guys step up on both sides of the line, I think we could win 8 games during the season. I also think if we suffer some injuries and the offensive line has not improved we could go 3-9. I don't think it will happen but it could. Having us ranked behind Kentucky is not unrealistic.
I also think Missouri is going to be good. They also get Arkansas and Ole Miss out of the west and Florida at home. Florida has Auburn and LSU out of the west. Even if Florida beats them Missouri could wind up #2 in the east.

Tennessee can beat any team in the SEC east and most in the west but they have to come ready to play with a chip on their shoulders and also learn how to overcome adversity while the game seems like it's getting away from them.....

You guys have seemed to have forgotten that with the exception of their very first season in the SEC Mizzo has done pretty well! Far better than we have in that same time frame.

It's not like we have had momentum in the past couple of years to claim other wise!

Let's see, we're 0-2 that last 2 years vs Mizzou, Vandy, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida and 1-1 vs Kentucky.

Yeah, he's totally crazy...

I would put UGA as 1, Mizzou as 2 and the rest too be determined. Neither UGA nor Mizzou will be world beaters but right now UGA can just out talent everybody in the east and Mizzou has the most complete team in the east. I wouldn't be shocked if Mizzou beat UGA this year. Mizzou is very upperclassmen heavy and this should be their best team since entering the league. If UGA doesn't win the east outright those really questionable coordinator hires will need to be addressed. Given the relative rosters and staffs I would be less surprised if Mizzou beat Bama than UGA.

I think Bocephus was quoting the Big E on that one.

Until we actually start winning, we are last on everybody's list. Yeah, we a home run hire with Chaney and I don't think Mizzou made a similar hire with "precious" Derrick Dooley! I don't even know if he's still on their staff. All I know is that he's not on our staff anymore and thank the Lord for that. We can and we should beat these other guys. We just gotta get our guys believing they can win. Dooley and Jones were more worried about shower etiquette and trash cans.

Building a good offensive line takes time. You can't just slap a good offensive lineman into an OL and expect him to elevate the play of the guys around him. If we start two freshmen, they're much bigger, but it will take a considerable amount of time before the line as a whole starts performing well as a unit. If we do have to go with the two freshmen, I hope that at least their increased size might buy our running-backs a few more seconds before the defense collapses the pocket, but I expect there to be more blown assignments and false starts if we go that route.

I dont think Bryant is as good a passer as Drew Lock.
Not even close. However, Lock’s passing abilities were NOT the reasons why Missouri beat the holy hell out of us in 2017 and 2018......a better, stronger, more talented, more aggressive roster, especially along both lines of scrimmage were.

UT has the players now to beat KY, MO, VU and SC, I would add MSU to the mix, with all the off season trouble Florida is having......I see a 4th quarter melt down by the gators. The world will be set right, stock market climbs, global warming will be fixed and our political system will..........well, even I know UT can't fix that :)

Go Big Orange!
Stock market is already at an all-time high, global warming is a political hoax and, of course, our political system is crooked as a a dog’s hind leg. We ain’t beating Florida this year....

I was hoping Kirby Smart would squander his talent like Mark Richt did and that is sadly not the case. They are so dang far ahead of everyone talent-wise that I do not see us catching up anytime soon. They have 22 of the SEC East' 24 five stars for crying out loud. Georgia's recruiting is just stupid ridiculous. It sucks but nobody in the East is currently on par with that staff and maybe only Bama in the West. I don't believe we are 6th place team this season. I'm hoping for 7 maybe 8 wins, anything above that wins Pruitt SEC honors.

Mizzou is probably the most disrespected team in the country. I'll be the first to admit that it does "feel weird" having them in the SEC, but they are 52-38 (27-29) with a couple of division titles since joining the conference. I didn't think they'd be that good.

Over that same timeframe, we're 44-43 (17-39).

So far it's a mirror image of CMR. Out talent lesser teams, lose to equally talented teams and play way too close to teams that run solid systems with upperclassmen. They have recruiters but outside of Pittman can any of them actually coach?
