Absolutely horrible loss today

If LSU had Waters we lose by 30 today.

Actually LSU was a tougher matchup with him out of the lineup. The freshman guard was considerably higher ranked than Waters. The two guards had a lot more length and were far better defenders. Our backcourt is very small and sometimes we get overwhelmed.

We lost on the road in overtime to a great team. Yes, we probably lost any chance of winning the SEC championship outright with the loss today, but there's still a lot of ball left to be played, and the SEC tournament. We could still get a one seed. Even if we don't get a 1 seed, anything can happen in the tournament. If we get a favorable draw, we could go really far.
With their BEST player sitting out. And their 2nd best scoring ONE point. Give me a break. If Waters had played, they beat us by 15+.

If he plays you take either Smart or Mayes off the floor. Smart goes for 29 and Mayes 23 so how much does Water bring to replace either one of them.? Also we can take it to Waters on the offensive end because he is so small. The other guys were a lot tougher on the defensive end.

Theres a reason why Waters is the starter. Smart is the heir apparent, Ill agree. But there is NO reason we dont win this game with Waters out. Barnes and staff did a ****** job scouting their bench. Plain and simple. They looked like they had NO clue about Smart.

I think our players are too worried about the refs and look soft. As "strong" and "physical" as Grant and Admiral are they are on the floor holding something, starring down the refs, or complaining to them half the time. If anybody needs to be riding the refs ass its Barnes. He usually is just sitting over there. He did chase the refs down after the game but the outcome was decided. Will Wade was up their ass the whole game giving them hell. Watch Calipari. He dont shut the hell up either. At the end of the day look who gets the iffy calls.

Thank you sir well said !!

Team has 3 more losses on its regular season schedule. @ Ole Miss, vs. UK and @ Auburn.

IMO, good teams are showing we are not all that. We haven’t played a complete game since Arkansas. UK and LSU made us look very beatable.

Feel like we are heading for a semi-final exit in the SEC tourney, a 3-5 seed in the NCAA tourney and a sweet 16 exit.

JMO, but we have not looked the same since the Alabama game. Even double-digit wins were underwhelming in the eye test.

Their "replacement" player scored 29. They better be glad that little guard was out, or I suspect Tennessee wins today.
that little guard I believe is Tremont Waters. He leads them in scoring, assist and is I think top 3 in sec in steals. 2nd leading scorer gets 1 pt. We choked. that's all there is to it

I'd rather have Bone ill and lose now than have him sick in tournament time. He was a step slow, it was obvious. Road loss at LSU is not the end of the world.

That being said, we need to rest up, get healthy, and finish strong.

And you just started a stupid thread. Lots of games yet to be played

What in the world was stupid about it? This was a win we needed, we should have gotten, we did not get, and there are significant repercussions as a result of not getting it.

That's a bad loss, stupid.

He's right, you're wrong.
When selection Sunday rolls around and they flash up team resumes, if someone bumps this thread with a screenshot showing @lsu listed as a bad loss then it will be some evidence that it’s not just knee jerk hysteria from overly-emotional vol fans.

This is where you are making the wrong distinction of the original post. This is not a "bad" loss in terms of seeding or losing to a bad team. This is a "bad" loss because it potentially cost this team the regular season SEC championship. It might not, but it would have been much easier to win it with a victory. You never know when you will be in the situation to win a championship again.

We definitely blew an opportunity to separate ourselves, but we still have a good shot at the #1 seed in both the SECT and NCAAT.

I agree that it was a horrible loss in the sense that their 2 best players were no shows, we had a 9 point lead with 6 min to go. and we had the chance for the last winning shot in reg. and OT and failed to execute. If Kyle doesn't show up, we lose 2 or 3 more regular games, second round in SECT. and 2nd round in NCAA. This team should not have 7 or 8 losses IMO.
