Absolute crap that we won't be playing y'all yearly now.

We had some of our best teams during the Spurrier/Fulmer era but you guys got the best of us. Seemed like Spurrier just got into Fuller's head or something & we just couldn't get prepared.
Those games came down to fumbles & interceptions. Missed blocks & missed tackles. And even repeated 3rd down touchdown passes(3) by Doug Johnson one year. 'Fuller' didn't do any of that. The game is played between the lines.

Not just Fulmer’s head. But every coach since him. Previous to Fulmer our winning percentage against the Gators was similar to Vandy and UK.

This does suck.

Truth is we got two historical cupcakes and Bama. Boo hoo 100 vs Kentucky, but for once I’m almost in agreement with D4H.

Bama is obvious for being a big deal since the league formed.. Vandy because it is instate.

We’ve lost historical rivalries before such as Ole Miss and Auburn, but I’ve never met a Tennessee fan who is fired up for Kentucky hate week the way we do Florida or Bama.

Nobody really cares about Kentucky. This ain’t basketball. They don’t put in the effort or resources to consistently field a competitive program.

We already have one program with a ceiling of 9 wins at the very best. Now we have 2 of them.
WE have always had those two cup cakes every year. Nothing has changed in that respect. So by playing Ga. Fl. two out of four years, we will add Texas/ LSU in the other two out of four years. It is not going to be easier. Just hope they balance out the power evenly over the four years.

Many would say it is played between the ears.

Cant say I'll miss it AT ALL. Considering we led the series until the early 90's after expansion version 1. Now... we are way behind. It's a ridiculous shame. Good riddance!

Meh, it hasn't been really a big game in a long time. The 90s through the mid 2000s maybe but honestly the last 20 years it's basically been just another game. It used to be THE game but both programs dipped and it's now running on past glory. I'm not really sad about it

I feel like this is less for Tennessee and more for Kentucky... Kentucky hates us with a passion..

I'd rather play Florida..
True, I didn't think about that angle. More than likely each SEC team ranked their preferences of most hated rival, and we, for sure got Kentucky's vote.

Losing Georgia and Florida sucks so bad for me. Out of every team we play, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama always are the games I am most invested in. Kentucky and Vanderbilt are consistently too ass for me to get excited about playing that game.

The best thing that ever happened to UF football was SOS becoming HC.
The second best thing was going to divisions and getting to play UT every year.

We are the biggest game for Kentucky every year. They get their stadium full every time they play us there. And it’s a close sec road game for each side on top of them being our longest running series. I’m glad it’s staying. We are now playing 9 conference games, so we still have plenty of room for tough conference games every year.

I dont get why people can't grasp this concept. People really think this 3 games is the determining factor in your SOS lol. I'd rather have our big rivalry games than play 2 teams I expect to beat every year. Nobody gets pumped to play Vandy or UK.

For the fans and players there will always be rilvaries. In the 80’s Auburn and Tennessee was a big rivalry, we played them in second or third week of the season just like we used to play Florida. It was huge, Majors-Dye the Vols-Tigers. I think by playing everyone it will only make it better. Even rotating around some of them matches will be highly anticipated. There isn’t going to be many dull moments. I look forward to a home and away with Texas, I expect that game to become big and think it will be become a natural rivalry. All SEC games are big these days. We have a great conference, I do hope we stay at 16 for a little bit. We don’t need anymore teams right now. Let’s let this play out and get some stability for awhile. We don’t need to ruin a good sound strong conference by adding to much and watering things down. We got the 16 right now, not a better conference out there. Let rivalries and familiarity grow some now. GBO

Legitimately has become one of my favorite rivalries. This new world of college sports sucks eggs.

You guys will need to get another ol ball sac as coach (or anyone other than Napier) before the rivalry heats back up again. Even the shark humper was better. You guys are just kind of sad now - like we were in the bubba gump days.

I do miss hating you guys with Spurrier in charge though - he did make it easy. Certainly a great rivalry for us both during that time, though you got the better of us.

Tennessee/Kentucky is the second oldest rivalry in the SEC and is Tennessee is Kentucky's biggest rivalry. I want Kentucky every year. I was 22 years old before I knew what a loss to Kentucky was about and since then the Kentucky fans in my life are insufferable. I want them every year. I want them to never win a game ever and I want the damn beer barrel back so we can hoist it over them year and year out. That is a tradition in the SEC that should never die.

I was 17 the last time the Vols lost to KY until the WR at QB game.

In between those two, I attended two Universities and lived in 3 states other than Tennessee.
