I've been reading some things here on VN about the team losing fans and just wanted to put things into perspective for everyone. Even in a bad year we still put more butts in the stands than 90% of any other school. Because no matter what we have the most loyal fans in the country, and win or lose these players always give us our money's worth.

When the Vols win, they win for for us. And when they lose, we lose with the team. This is a tradition born in us and it will never go away. Every Vol team I have ever witnessed feeds off the energy from the crowd, and I'm proud of the way our fans hang in there no matter what the weather is like, no matter what the score is on the scoreboard.

Butch is setting a solid foundation to build on. He's going to right the ship. He's going to get things turned around. He knows our fans deserve a winner. He stepped into a great college football tradition when he landed the job as our couch, and he will earn our respect.

Times might be tough now, but that's how we separate the real UT fans from the wannabes. Don't believe anyone who says the fans are leaving the program. If they didn't leave when Dooley was here we have nothing to worry about. Our program has a rock solid fan base.

We're gonna be alright - let's whip the Hogs on Saturday!!!

I really hope your right about butch righting the ship. I am seriously doubting. I do agree we have best fans in the country. Vol fans are loyal and no matter how pissed we get we tune in every Saturday to pull for our team. Everywhere I go I find someone in some orange and I love that. GBO

If you're on board now, whether mad or not, you're a fan. If you're a sunshine pumper, you're a fan. If you're a nega-vol, you're a fan (just a bitter one :) ) if you're in the middle and a concerned fan who is upset with coaching, you're a fan. Enough with thw real fan/ fake fan stuff. There is no motivation to be a "wannabe" fan. (Not talking to you OP but with regard to all the calling out of REAL fans, etc we see on here all the time)

I really hope Butch can turn this season around and end on a high note, but watching how we lost in the 2 games has really shaken my faith in Butch. Hopefully Butch will have our boys ready to pound some Hogs in the dirt Saturday night. But a loss in this game, could really be bad for Butch and our team moving forward. We need this win in a bad way. This game is going to have a lot of eyes on it wondering who's going to coach their team to a win. Hopefully Neyland Stadium will help our boys win this one.

You're right about everything except what I left in of your post.

He has done nothing to show that he is building a solid foundation, nor has he demonstrated that is there any reason to believe that he is going to right the ship or turn things around.

He has done nothing to show that he knows how to hold a 4th quarter lead but come on, if you can't see the improvement in talent in this team vs 2013 then you aren't paying attention. The solid foundation (the level of talent) is there. The losses are still mounting and yet there is a difference between blowing double digit 4th quarter leads and losing (mercifully) 59-14 and 55-23.

Tennessee fans are forgiving. They show their passion but forgive.

Neyland was forgiven for retiring.
Wyatt was forgiven for never winning.
McDonald was forgiven for not understanding the T formation.
Dickey was forgiven for throwing a game to FL before leaving for FL.
Battle was forgiven for not being Johnny Comes Marching Home.
Majors was forgiven for not bringing a Pitt national championship with him.
Fulmer was forgiven for only winning 1 national championship.
Manning was even forgiven for not beating Florryduh.
Kiffin was forgiven for having Hamilton as an AD.
Dooley wasn't forgiven but has been forgotten.
Jones hasn't needed forgiveness ... yet! But his time seems close.

Heaven forbid we lose to the pigs! If we do, people will come apart at the seams, the skiy will fall, and the earth will be burned up by global warming.
We have to win this one to calm down the raw nerves including my own.

Yep, Butch has totally restocked the roster which was left threadbare by Dools.

An undefeated season in 1956 other than the bowl game hardly warrants never winning.
McDonald was told going in that he was only hired for one year

BJ has formed a foundation built on his losing philosophy.

I have no idea if the coach will turn things around during games.
Wts, we will continue to to have one of the strongest fanbases in the country.
People put too much stock in internet forums. It's a great place for people to sound off
when, in the real world, people just walk away from them.
9,000 posts by 50 people doesn't represent the fanbase.
If you are like me, you have many friends that are UT fans. I have no friends that
speak like the select few on here.

I've been saying this for a couple of weeks now. Making the most posts on the "interwebs" doesn't mean they're a representative of the majority.
Just that they value their own opinion more than others do.

That's close but not totally accurate just yet.

We still have positions that are weak, like our O line, and many positions where top talented depth isn't here...YET!

buTch and staff have a Junior class that's what CDD recruited ad what he could recruit i a very short time.

Only our freshmen and sophs are all buTch recruits so we only really have 2 full recruiting classes that are all buTch and staff and both of those were top 5 recruiting classes.

If he can keep recruiting like that then it won't be much longer until everyone fears our Vols again like they used to do.

Fearing us also includes our coaches making a few changes and not making more really bad mistakes which I think they will do.

It's Hog week ladies and gents so it's bacon and fried bologna for breakfast, baked ham and hot dogs for lunch and Bar-B-Q for dinner.

It's ALWAYS great to be a Tennessee footVol fan!!!

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!
