Aaron Hayden likes hire

Youre the head coach and you cant decide on one defensive assistant? Especially one with a record of success coaching on the field, development of talent and recruiting. Pruitt stuck Chaney with Friend and Wienke and together they arent half the coach Garner is.

Whoever the DC is, he needs to thank Heupel for hiring Garner and stick with Rodney like glue.

Does it seem strange to anyone else that Heupel hired a DL coach and still does not have a DC? Usually the DC hires his own DL/LB coaches or at least has input on them. If you are a DC and Heupel comes to you and says "I want you to be DC but I already hired your DL coach and there is this guy named Steele you are going to need to figure out what to do with him". What would you think?

It's a Tennessee coaching search. Nothing seems strange.

The Toto's Dad tweet/statement has been called fake news by someone on TOS that spoke with his Dad and said it "wasn't true at all."

My wife and I talked to To'O To'O's Dad for quite awhile 2 years ago after the Vandy game and that statement seemed nothing like the way his Dad talked that night. He was overly appreciative of the fans, the University and the entire Tennessee experience. He went on and on about the way folks (fans) in Tennessee made them feel @ home even when they were so far away from their actual home. Just didn't seem like the kind of man that would make such a statement as that which was reported... IMO

I hope you're right and they still feel that way. Nobody likes the way the Pruitt years went. Would lose all respect for Henry and family if they just dump on us and run to bammer

Yeah, Henry T is gone unfortunately. Dad already said it was a mistake choosing Tennessee the 1st time. Would love for us to have the last laugh if he goes to Bama. One of these storybook endings has to go our way eventually.

If he's in, guaranteed first down. All we gotta do is throw to the TE over the middle. The guy can't cover my sister.

I actually hope for the best for the kid. Came here under a band of (largely) morons, was told to drop weight, then not taught how to drop into coverage.

Without Slingblade et al, I bet Henry T grows into a fine LB. just wish it could have been here.

I wish any former players well unless they transfer to Bama or Florida, in which case I hope they ride the pine before a short stint with NFL Europe before taking a job at a Gainesville or Tuscaloosa Burger King.

Is he talking about the running backs coach, the one with Memphis ties (where he and Chase are from.) Maybe he is referring to Chase coming here instead of Illinois?

Do not, I repeat, do not question this process! If you do, you will be scolded by the really patient fans and told that you are not privileged enough to know what’s going on and that you are a bad fan and the reason we have sucked for a decade+.
Trust me.
GBO!!

If I am coaching someplace like Wofford and they want to triple or quadruple my salary I would be OK with it.

I don't think you can turn down Garner waiting on a DC. He would get snatched up quickly. No DC would not want him. He is a excellent d-line coach and super recruiter.
Exactly right. If anything, this move could entice a potential candidate.

Anyone, please, who can name a better d-line coach and recruiter, available or not ,than our Rodney Garner?

I never knew Barkley was his cousin. The knock on him back in the day was good recruiter bad coach but that was back in the late 90's when he was here. I know UGA and Auburn both won some recruiting battles against us due to him.

Aaron is a pretty grounded guy. He’s a TN guy but believe he’ll advise when asked and not have decision influence because he took a screen pass to the house at ND in those orange tights.
You are correct. He’s a good father and wants what’s best for his son. Aaron is definitely ALL Vol but as the worn phrase says “It’s business and not personal”.

I guess it’s possible but I’d think he’s going to Illinois because of Bielema more than anything else. (Chase that is, not the coach lol)

Hayden had one of the nastiest broken legs I've seen. I think it was vs Vandy.

He'll be a backup at best at Bama. He'll never start there. Head on out. Bama has plenty of cash to hand out without anyone saying a damn thing.
