Seeing more than a few reports here about Kiffin sweeping a failed drug test under the rug, I wonder if this is Dooley forcing Douglas to confront his demons while Kiffin (who clearly did not give a d*** about his players as people) merely looked the other way. It would be consistent with what we know about Dooley. Don't know Douglas and have no dog in this hunt, but this would seem to be a good time for the kid to confront his demons.

Douglas had told me that he personally called a separate meeting to tell Dooley about the problems he was facing and how he had decided to act on them. He then called a team meeting after to tell his teammates.

The problem as I see it is not that 18-23 year olds will make mistakes. Know plenty of "adults" much older still making mistakes. It's the ones that think they are privileged because they are on sports scholarship that are the problem. Apparently Douglas identifies his problem and wants to fix it, thereby doing honor to the scholly that was given him.
