Aaron Douglas Officially Gone

Good grief, where do you get your ideas??
JoPa has been 11 and 2 in 2009 and 2008.

So by your reasoning I would have loved to see Fulmer v2.0. And I think he could have done it just like paterno.

I wasn't aware that Paterno has to coach against Nick Saban and Urban Meyer every year.

Mature response. Dooley has a string of events now that seem to indicate he is over his head. He might not be but ever since NSD I can't find one thing he's done well.

LOL @ your mindset. Do yourself a favor. Turn your computer off, unplug it,pick it up and walk to the nearest window. Next, "granny-shot" it out of the window.

oh yeah going from fulmer to eventually dooley is a lot better decision! the mistake was made by not locking up kiffin. this program is being ran into the ground and all you wishful thinkers arent helping matters any. i would much rather be going into this season with fulmer at the helm than who we have now. im not bashing dooley but we got rid of a legend for a 3rd stringer. it was 12 seasons since we won the nc, just how many seasons do you think it will be before we win another one?

Who said I was a wishful thinker?

And by the end - Fulmer was a 2nd stringer at best.

Still holding out that Fulmer was going to turn it around, eh?

Yep!. Given the time, he would have had Urban and Nick sticking their tails between their legs and running like scared pups. He was in his prime and was only going to get better. TN football would have already surpassed Bama in NC's and Neyland Stadium would be "Fulmer Stadium" by now. Why can't some people understand this?

What ? where did you come up with the bad player ? you dont make freshmen all american and be a bad player. You dont really know nothing about football I take it.

Dude, he was SECOND TEAM freshman all-american. I bet half these second team guys don't pan out. Apparently DD has someone lined up he thinks is better to play thats why Douglas was let go so fast.

I think your sentiment is spot on. But, "one little piece of crust on the edge?" Aren't we talking about at least a slice here?

I can see your point. Where I disagree is this: people are keeping the situation mainly in the realm of Dooley's at fault and not going back to Clawson with their complaints. if you go back to that then its more like two slices. But if you're only talking about the Dooley era then its a little bit of crust. He made an excellent hire in DC. Anyone who disagrees is just complaining to complain. The DC can flat out coach with lessor talent and beat a better Pac-10 last year than the one we lost too. He also pulled in a good class but did fall short in some key need positions. I still think that with the time he had he pulled about a B+ recruiting class, 2 more DE's and one more OL and I'd said he pulled nearly an A+ class. WE lost Austin but it appears Austin had alot of problems and BB is not that huge of a loss. I don't care what anyone says everyone on this board was just hoping we'd get one RB that class and when we got OKU we were all very happy at the time. BB came after NSD. Oku also appears to have put on weight and wants it bad. WE are ok with RB for years to come. At this point, I still believe (if we're talking the Dooley era only) its a small piece of the crust. People need to give the guy some time. We haven't played one snap yet and half the board wants him lynched.

Just remember..."We are growing grass here, not pulling weeds" (per DD). Also, "Life is like a box of chocolates"!!

Ever been to Maryville?

Yes, born and raised in Maryville. Graduated Maryville High school in 1963. Still holds the highest grad/going to college ratio in school history. A great city to raise a family and work and plan for the future. You are an IDIOT and know NOT what you are inferirng. Go back to sleep, you creep.

So you think it will be OK that the program fails for 7 years after Fulmer was fired?? I just don't get you haters that would cut your nose off to spite your face.
Damn. Fulmer downgraded the program from '98 til '08 and you're saying Dooley will fail for 7 years? Holy catcrap Batman, that's 17 years that Tennessee football will be irrelevant.

This doesn't exist...

We have a proven OC who knows how to coach and has a QB right now with a Super Bowl championship who will agree.

WE have a DC who is a proven winner and has multiple BCS bowl winds under him.

WE have one of the best WR coaches in the game.

And our HC is a proven recruiter who helped lay the foundation as LSU with Saban and Saban felt comfortable enough about his skills to take him with him to the NFL.

I think people need to start looking at the whole pie here and stop focusing on one little piece of crust on the edge.

Dooley said he will be allowed to leave but not to any teams we play in the next few years...
So which teams is he not allowed to play for?
Is USC one of them?

Pretty sure he hates Lane Kiffin (he stood up and yelled at him when Lane told the players he was leaving) so it probably won't be something to worry about...

I'm pretty sure blount county is all that awesomeness. Just secluded and close enough to knoxville that rich people can be away from poor alcoa and still make a communte to knox vegas for work. Actually spent a lot of time there, just like all the rest of east TN. Same problems and what not. Just don't tell someone from maryville that. There must be something in the water in maryville that makes some many state champs. Probably gold nuggets. Rich ole farts.
