Aaron Douglas moved to tackle

Wasn't he was one of the players rumored to possibly transfer at one point? It's funny that he stayed and is now being moved to a linemans position. I just hope it's a move he WANTS to make and is not being forced.

Sounds like he has outgrown the TE spot. I mean it is good to have big TE's, but he is huge!

isnt that the rage in the NFL now? Using TE as OL, because they have better hands and are generally quicker and more athletic?

this has been the trend for traditional TEs lately, as the new fad for TEs has been in the A.Gates mold
++ more athletic, better hands
-- not a true blocker, less physical at the line of scrimmage

He could be a great LT in a year or two. Doubtful that he is 290 though. I've heard 280 and I've heard 260. Probably somewhere in the middle.

Wow I totally called this in the Warren to WR thread.

Better take care, KPT is on the prowl for people giving credit to themselves for calling things. :whistling:

I think everyone saw this coming. Chaney likes his tackles mobile and even though this offense is going to be different than the one he ran in Purdue, depth at the position necessitated it.

Out of curiosity, Darnell, when did he update with this info? I'm curious, because I think it will likely be leaked to the media the same way the Warren move was. That position is being opened up for Orson Charles and this very well may tip the scales in our favor. IMO it is a very tight race with us and UGA out front.

And that is why Jason Witten is the best TE in the game.

This is definitely a ploy to tell Orson Charles that we want him to play from 1st and 10 against Western Kentucky on, or a statement on what the new staff thinks of our receiving corps (Warren) and the offensive line (Douglas).

Or both.

Per Aaron directly....he weighed 285 last season and was at about 270lbs in late January.... he could get close to 300lbs by the time the season starts. He has half a year. Aaron wanted to play TE but he see's the need at OT i guess.

I am all for it.

wonder what mommy thinks of this move?

She's had plenty of time to think about it...because he was told that this move would be likely when he was recruited. I'd say she's probably more worried about the fact that he can't pass one of his home drug tests they give him every month.
