Aaron Douglas found dead (confirmed)

May 'the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort' be with Aaron's family.

The distress and sorrow for the family are unimaginable and the out pouring of support from UT fans is as it should be.

As a father and a coach we do,say, remind, and I'm sure get on players nerves about being safe and being smart.

I wish more friends (their peers) would take on the challenge to call their friend(s) out. If they are heading down an unexceptable path, oftentimes its the friend who sees it first.

I just can't get over how many ball players are willing to get involved in a lifestyle that can slip into something that gets ahold of them and will NOT let go. Aaron I'm so sorry this happened.

Who cares what team he played for.. he is the 21 year old son of a family in desperate need of support. The Douglas family has strong ties to the Volunteer family, probably more than most of us. I don't care where he decided to play his football. He could have played for the Al Qaeda Football Team for all I care.

The family whom are huge supporters of our University are the ones in pain today, treat it as such.

If you are saying the Douglas family are vols for life then that is a "different kettle of fish" and such a statement would be beyond reproach.

Aaron chose a different path (for his own reasons) and then tragedy stepped in.

A situation similar to Peyton chosing UT (VFL) and his parents and brothers chosing Ole Miss (Rebels for life).

Anyway, it's a debate for a different forum and day, so you can relax and undo that wad in your underwear. I was only responding to what someone else wrote.

no, it's not a debate for any day. would u ask this question to their family??

Of course not. That would be rude and insensitive since their son is deceased. And what does asking or not asking the Douglas family have to do with the question?

Why do you care? You apparently have no concern with or for UT?

I'm sure you are, but Aaron died because of the life choices he made, not because of what a screenname on a computer typed. Jmo. Once again I'll keep his family in my prayers.

I agree. Doesn't change the fact that I'm glad I didn't pass reactionary judgment on a troubled youth.

Yeah at this point, VFL or not is moot regardless of how you feel about it. It's still a sad situation that shouldn't have happened.

I understand he grew up in Maryville and always wanted to be a Vol. He was disillusioned by Kiffin and left because Kiffin left.

Eh, he really liked Coach Cregg.

When he left, Douglas didn't want to stay and Dooley thought it would be in his best interest to get as far away from Knoxville as possible.

"We apologize for the tone of a post that appeared on ESPN.com's Rumor Central page today related to the tragic death of Aaron Douglas. It did not meet our editorial standards and was removed upon discovery, within 20 minutes of going live."

VFL, Tide, Gator, Tiger, Cock, Dawg, or Cat doesn't even begin to matter at a time such as this. This was a human being, and even worse, a kid(relatively speaking anyway). Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Douglas family for their tragic loss.

He did what was best for him...and as much as I hate AD going to play for a rival, it was still what was best for HIM. It's no one's decision but his. This doesn't make him "anti-VFL."

what a DA, AD tried to run from his problems but they caught up with him. Sad Sad story, but not a VFL. he trned his back on our program.

Please get off the whole VFL thing folks. It is really embarrassing.

I didn't read through all 20 pages but I don't think that there's any conflict with being a Vol for life and morning a young kids death. Especially a preventable one.

I'm ashamed to admit, that was the first thought I had when i saw the news.

If everyone was honest it's probably the first thing everybody thought. It's sad that someone this young with so much potential in sports & life would suffer this fate. That said I don't think anybody is very surprised.

Sad deal, heard on 3HL today. Drugs and the fast life even claim the young sometimes. Prayers to his family.

"What a waste" he isn't a vol for life" all these comments about a kid who just lost his life and whose family is suffering. These comments make me wonder about our ****ing fan base as a whole.
