We had wins over Xavier and a ranked Wichita State team.

We returned the best part of our roster and added Maymon, comparable pg play, and some impact freshman.

We're 1-2 vs. these teams this year, who didn't return as much we did. They improved, we haven't.

We missed the tourney last year winning these games. Anyone think we're in a better spot this year after losing them? We're NIT bound again guys.

My support of Coach Martin has been strong, and I think he deserves the rest of the season without taking too much heat. However, the lack of progress with the talent we have is a little unsettling. I'm starting to lose faith that he is the guy to lead UT basketball.

Does anyone have some evidence that points to us improving and can sell me on a better attitude?

No evidence to improving so far. If anything, regression is the evidence.

There's a point where FT shooting and missing easy layups, and having really no identity on offense, is strictly on the coach. We are passed the point of benefit of the doubt. Martin has a sweet 16 or better or he should be gone

and we should hire greg marshal

Last year, we beat Xavier and Wichita State in Knoxville. This year, we beat Xavier on a neutral court and lost in Xavier and Wichita.

This team should be better. It's that simple. They play bad offense at times. Can't hit a free throw. Substitute too much and just look out of sync at times. It's bad Basketball.

Our NCAA bid probably depends on protecting our home court against NCSU and UVA. We'll be in a decent position entering SEC play if we win our next four games.

If you're implying home court is a 20 point swing I don't buy that. That doesn't make anyone feel better, we won't be playing any tournament games in Knoxville either.

I'm not saying we're great.
But, you asked for an explanation of what's different this year, so I provided one. I think we would have won today if the game had been at home.

Fair enough. Would have definitely been closer, and maybe the rims are more kind on free throws. Gameplan would likely be the same imo.

SEC Tournament champ gets an automatic bid. Doesn't matter what your record is. Vandy did it a couple of years ago - why can't UT?

Now what makes you think he deserves "special treatment"?

Nothing. But the team deserves and needs as much support as possible. They can still salvage the season. Coaching talk is a distraction for the team when negative I think.

It didn't stop the martinites from screaming for Bruce's head during the season.

We can.
But, we haven't won that tournament since 1979, so if we're hanging our hopes on that, we're in trouble.
