Relax.

Take a few minutes and breathe. Put away the emotions and THINK about the situation before you post anymore reactive, poorly thought out "FIRE DOOLEY", "WILL WE EVER REBUILD", and other alarmist threads. Those types of threads just make people look bad and show how unrealistic or non-sensical posters can be.

Yes, there may indeed have to be some changes on the staff, but overall Dooley IS STILL the right man for the job. There will be dramatic improvement next year. Another solid recruiting class will help provide the depth to make that possible. The players and coaches left after this year will improve and learn a lot from this season. They will continue to grow (especially Bray) through this painful process. He will be a better leader and player because of the adversity/mistakes.

What does that mean for the remainder of THIS season? It means things are going to be rough. UT might be able to go 6-6, then have another bowl appearance. Likely the team they draw will certainly be beatable. So, Vols will likely finish at best 7-6.

Have realistic expectations. Give the team time to develop. Yes, they are that depleted.

Issues for the immediate future: First and foremost, Hiestand must find a way to successfully run the football. If he doesn't, he might be done. UT must find a dependable center NOW. They must find an answer for the special teams mistakes/gaffs. (extra points and getting punts away should be automatic). Receivers must have more discipline in catching the ball. R. Neal needs a course in ball handling. Fix those couple of things and seven wins is totally doable.

The loses to LSU, Alabama, South Carolina, and Arkansas will be painful to watch. Remember, it will get better next year.

Keep your chin up! This is still Tennessee. The Vols will be relevant again...next year. Look for a top 25 team.

I'm glad your happy with a guy that coached at La Tech and has not proved anything, ever. What makes you think he will here?

Your take on what I wrote was "Thread title severely limits readership"?

Okay.

Hiestand has to go NOW if we have any prayer for next season. In fact...both oline and RB coach have to go. We need guys who can fix this situation as soon as possible. Anyone with a brain can see youth and talent has little or nothing to do with our running game. We got more production last season from the same back with a true freshman line...same players. If anyhting this year proves it's likely to get worse next season than better when it comes to running the ball.

I knew fans were going to be upset when many on here were predicting 8, 9, and even 10 wins. That just wasn't very likely with this young team.

Totally agree, I hoped for 7-5 maybe steal one for 8-4 but realistic is 6-6 with low bowl bid. A lot on here need to relax ,but those calling for new head coach are the same ones year in an year out.

overall Dooley IS STILL the right man for the job.

you know this how? based on his record of 6 years of coaching without beating a quality opponent? based on his 7th-in-the-SEC recruiting classes? because he has a southern accent and sounds good in his press conferences? I just don't what you people see in this loser.

Bottom line is I never thought this team could go 6-6 this year, but we would be competitive and show signs of better things to come. The truth is we look worse than last year, how is getting those 3 star recruits and coaching them up working for us? The truth of the matter is we are in the toughest conference in the country, and our conference elite are in the top 10 in recruiting, then we need to stop going after 3 star recruits, if we are going to be competitive and relevant in this conference we need better recruits.

What I see is a man that was willing to come in and take on a monumental task when so many other "names" would not. What I see is someone who has embraced the university. What I see is a man who is providing stability to a program that needs it in the worst way. What I see is a coach that has had some incredibly bad luck.

What I see is a young team that needs to mature. If you don't see that we need to give CDD 4 years, then you are going to be disappointed in a lot of things in life.

I agree that CDD has done a poor job here. But I also agree that he shouldn't be fired. Give him time. I'm saying that I don't know if he is good or not, but firing him now, will set our program back even further. He has to be able to look at his program, and assistants and see who is not doing the job and then fix that problem. His worst effort would be to give it the 'ol Fulmer try and stay loyal to assistants that can't get the job done. The loyalty should be to the University, not the assistant coaches.

The high-school team my kid plays on was young last year and not very good. This year they're undefeated and ranked #1 in the state.
all the experts said it would take 3-4 years when CDD was hired. I don't know why everyone is now shocked that we're still struggling.

We cannot afford not too do so.....the program is gaining constant momemtum...Some of our fan base are accelerating this and it is doing more damage than good....It is the SEC and it is not an easy task to rebuild in this league...I don't want a shake and bake team.....I want one that is built on firm foundation. It will take potentially three seasons full cycles....

Sorry but talent has everything to do with it. Dooley et al can coach as well as about anyone else . As an example in hyperbole, suppose they had a team full of players like say you or me or 75more other people from this board. Do you think if they coached us long enough or hard enough we could step up

We will have a top 10 recruiting class this year. Hide and watch
