A vote of confidence for Currie from Swain this morning.

He's here through Bama regardless. Currie won't hang that curb stomping on an interim coach. Better to hope for a fresh start with a winnable game like UK, or maybe waiting for USM at home. JMO, but if it's me I try to put the interim coach in a spot where he has a chance to salvage what's left of the season.

Go Vols.

Have to agree.

On Swain’s WVLZ morning
- likes hearing that Currie speaks to current commitments to assure them that he will do whatever it takes to get them winning at a high level. Says it’s a tough balancing act not to promise that Butch will stay or go until that decision can be made public.

How can you "not promise" Butch goes or stays but then talks about a search committee. Doesn't that mean Butch goes.

How bout we see if we can win our first SEC game in a long time instead of speculating about 5 in a row

EXACTLY!! Just beat an SEC team, any of them, before running off about any thing else.

Do you all really think that Currie has Swain on speed dial and updates him on the day to day activities in the UTAD?

If so, I have some ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you.

Amazed because I know some take Swain's word as gospel.

Well butch you've sold a lot of players and parents on your crappy system and chart so I guess you're pretty good salesman.
I'll set up a time where I can view said property,

And swain is just a pot stirrer imo.

if he goes 9-3 he has done a heck of a job coaching, why would fire him?

There are a ton of reasons why but I’ll say this even if he goes 9-3,which he won’t, he would have lost all the important games on the schedule except LSU, which still wouldn’t be saying much because they’re pretty down. And that’s been the reoccurring theme with butch.he doesn’t win the games that matter and he also has a tendency to throw games that we should win hands down. Oh and did I mention that Kentucky is favored to beat us this year according to ESPN? That should NEVER happen😡

Something tells me that Swain gets phone calls from time to time when someone inside the AD wants to get a message out without it being "official". All good AD's have that backdoor path to the media/boosters/fans.

I'd watch what Swain says over the next two weeks. Might have to read between the lines, but he just might know what the El Grande Mosaic is.

I would think that would be more true of Ainge, Hyams or someone on the sports animal.
It is the flagship station of the Vol Network.

Seems to me they would go outside of the "network" for the kind of info I'm talking about. VN broadcasters have to stick to the script.

And with Swain being outside the grip of the network, he likely has a few insiders who feed him info, especially in times like these. The question is how much he can say without exposing his source(s).

Just a suspicion I have. You always have a way to get info out without it coming from "you".

It's going to get very busy on the Hill over the next two to three weeks. Rumors flying everywhere. The trick is going to be finding the quiet voice that keeps saying the same thing. There's your hint as to what's coming.

Golf Buddy is dead quiet. Says the folks he knows are in lockdown mode. No idea what to make of that, and he won't budge. Don't think he knows any more than already said.

We'll see. I still say after Bama. Just makes sense to me.

Sorry, my point was...mind you, this is just my suspicion...that as things heat up in K-town over the next couple of weeks (and they will), that I would look outside of the Vol Network for best info. No surprise there. Swain likely has a couple of sources on the inside. I'm going to be watching what he says, especially after Bama.

Just where I plan to be watching. I have nothing other than personal opinion to support it.

Exactly.. My son calls it "state run media". He's been waiting for Ainge to call Butch out, and I think he's getting close, but I don't see Ainge turning on Jones. Jones will sink himself without Ainge's help.

Complete opposite of Finebaum. I live in Alabama and Finebaum was FUN AS HELL to listen to during the "Mike" years (Price, Dubose, Shula). Finebaum has made his living being a shark that smells the smallest hint of blood in the water, and then stirs it up until it's time to go in for the kill. Awesome when happening at Bama, but he's a Jerk anyway and especially when these tactics are used against your team.

I will say this for Finebaum - He precipitates change. Call it a "premature evacuation" of a coach - He creates churn. Jimmy Sexton must love him. Coach churn has put him in a new tax bracket!!

This weekend will be interesting. SC game could go either way. If it goes like UGA, watch out Butch.

Majors was fired in 92 and that team finished 9-3.

Fulmer won the first 3 that season, then the team responded to win the last 3 (Memphis, Ky and Vandy) after Majors was basically fired. Fulmer won the bowl game. So JohnnyBoy was 2-3 with a team that had beaten far more talented teams at GA and Florida.

It was time for JM to go. Exits are never pretty but it was the right time.

If he goes 9-3 he has brought the locker room back. a divided locker room goes 6-6 at best. somewhat divided 7-5 to 8-4. neither should keep his job but 9-3 he is still our coach.

I hope he goes 9-3 keeps our recruiting class and then takes another job.

Don't kid yourself, if Butch Jones goes 9-3 with this team, he'll get a big raise and extension and most likely deserve it, don't you think?
