HI folks, Roll Up Roll Up the Circus is back in town (well sort of) next Saturday.

This year we again have our most successful RING MASTER for a couple of decades in Josh Heupel. A man we hope will run the Circus for many years to come.

Probably my favorite act this year are the ELEPHANTS who are also known as the Offensive Line. Now there are four new Elephants this year, Lance is the only one to return from last season (although Jesse was in the background watching and learning) but I must say Lance looks much healthier so all those visits to the vets seems to have worked, David, who has enormous potential, is in his first year with the circus but dont be fooled by this lack of experience, Sam and Wendell, have experience in other Circuses so they should be decent additions. But my only concern is will William/Sam be able to hold the middle of the Line together.

The last couple of years we have had a couple of very powerful HUMAN CANNONBALLS in Joe “next zip code” and Nico IamAGreedyGit, well this year I give you Joey, he admittedly doesn’t have such an explosive act but I think you are gonna just love him nevertheless

Everybody marvels at the HIGH WIRE ACT where the balance and timing seem unreal, this year you will be choking on your pop corn as you watch Mike tiptoeing down the edge of the ring defying balance and confirming why he is a 5 * recruit.

Good news “old grizzly” Rodney Garner`s BEARS look just as fearsome as they have for a few years now. I remember a time when they were more like pussy cats, but I now hide under my seat with fear as they attack anybody who dares to enter their space. One new Bear I think you should watch out for Isaiah.

The JUGGLERS name is Boo. Trying to keep both playbooks in the air seems impossible to me (I think the last time someone tried to do this was when John Madden was better known for coaching rather than computer games) so I am concerned that he will drop one of them, but I admit it will be a very interesting act to watch

Finally, no Circus is complete without its CLOWNS. Over the years LSU have provided us with great hilarity from Les, Ed and now Brian, but sadly they are not booked this year and actually nor is Lane, so we will have to do with Kirby instead, now I know he hasn’t been very funny at all for some years but I have sneaky feeling he will leave us with big smiles on our faces this year.

Welcome back Circus, I have missed you. -

LV, you certainly put lots of effort, imagination & inspiration into this prose! William Shakespeare would approve, which makes you our Big Orange Bard! "Lions, Tigers, Bears...oh, my!" I'm gonna save this for sure. You also managed to peak my enthusiasm for the upcoming college football season (& I needed that). You certainly touched all the bases, my friend. 😎

If we are going to use circus metaphors, then Boo is definitely a clown right now (and let's face it, is there a better name for a clown than Boo?) He missed too many rehearsals and was caught fooling around with the bearded lady behind one of the tents! He may eventually earn his way up to being a juggler or an acrobat again, but right now our ringmaster is relegating Boo to squeezing into a tiny car with about 10 other clowns until he works his way up from that job. We need to maximize his abilities as much as possible because word is, he's being courted by a rival circus, and he just might go work for them after this season.

The real question I have is will our ringmaster have our acrobats high flying again this year or will they be relegated to doing tricks on the ground like last year? While seeing acrobats run, spin, dive, and tumble on the floor is entertaining, eventually we want to see them on the highwire and swinging from the trapeze!

Last year, out of our herd of elephants, Lance was the biggest in the "Heard"! So much so, he was demoted to playing the fat guy in the circus, but this year he looks poised to play the strong man. He's worked hard this off season and he's ready to mesmerize the crowd by showing how powerful he's become!

Speaking of elephants, Sanders is a great addition to our team of pachyderms, but he is still a calf! I look for him to make mistakes along the way as he develops and perfects his performance. I'm sure he'll turn the wrong way at times, move before he's supposed to, and lift the wrong leg, but eventually he'll be in complete synch with the older, more experienced elephants on the line!

Though I appreciate your circus analogy, due to the Crimson Tide’s long association with the elephant, I cringe for our o-line. Water buffalo aren’t in the circus for good reason, but our o-line have a water buffalo attitude.
