A united fan base

We can’t even agree on why we are being negative haha. I can understand being skeptical, but we have no issues asking our team to give it’s all while publicly dogging them when things dont live up to our expections. I just can’t see how that is productive. To each their own I guess.

I am confused why "uniting" is always code for Pollyanna positive allegiance. Why can't we all unite in negativity towards an athletic department that is incompetent at best?

didn't we already do that...that's how we got AD Fulmer and a new coaching staff...:)

PS. time is hard to wait on...been waiting for a while myself...

GO VOLS!

How about everyone being pretty middle of the road in expectations and stop doing all the same things we've done in years past?

Pruitt needs time. If we gave Dooley and Jones 2-3 years, Pruitt gets that. Also know going in that we probably weren't going to be good this year, so consider 6-6 a success.

On the flip side, how about not being overly cocky before games? Stop acting all offended when people picked WV over us, stop with the "No respect" whining; respect is earned and we haven't earned any in a good while.

And for the love of God stop trotting out the cliches that we heard under Kiffin, Dooley and Jones. Stop saying we "have a real coach"; we don't know if we have a "real" head coach yet. And stop telling us how Saban went 6-6 his first year. That cliche should have been retired with Jones.

You're certainly proving my point about us being a bunch of ornery cusses who run toward the fight. :)

I was 10 when we won a Natty. I was 20 when we played for an SEC title. Now I’m 30....and we’re at the bottom. If we’re the same when I’m 40, I’m really not sure what the point of watching is.

Don't misstate your point. This is a message board, not a real representation of our entire fan base. We are real fans that are a little more intense

What will it take to unite our fan base?

I look at teams that have made strides toward championship level football, and it appears everyone is pulling in the same direction including the fans. Why is our fan base so fickle?

I see so many post about we suck, our coaches suck, players suck etc...why? Because a new coaching staff, and a new system didn’t win its first game? I am not sure about the rest of you, but I feel that is totally unrealistic. We were a bad team last year and that can’t be undone in 20 practices. Learning to win is a skill, and it has to be taught. It is learned in games.

What will it take this season for you to fully support this team and staff? They have my support because they “ Give their all for Tennessee”. Am I happy we lost? Absolutely not, but I am also aware that knee jerk reactions do not help achieve a goals.

Maybe I am just too much of an optimist, but I saw plenty of things to look forward to.

They feed after a loss...then MOST go back to their cave. Got a salty number that are “done” and “real” that alert us daily that we’ll never be good. Keep em frustrated, not folding up really agitates them. 😎

Don’t know why it bothers you so. Other fan bases do it...because it’s what FANS do.

The comparison between UT fans and Soldiers caught my eye.

I hope I passed muster, then. :)

We really are reflective of our history.

We were an easily-riled bunch back when Andrew Jackson led a lot of us down to New Orleans to kick the British out, and we're still the same today. Volunteers. Apt title for us, for our state.

Been a fan 70 years and to long in the tooth to quit now. Pruitt has my support just like the past 8 coaches have. Told my wife when I'm laying up at the funeral home and they run out of stuff to talk about just say he never abandoned that Orange ship.

You can get Butch and Dooley to be your pallbearers so they can let you down one last time....

Because much of this fan base has no clue about football or what it takes to build a team that’s competitive in the SEC that’s why

I'm sure we've all heard you can't please everyone all the time. The reality is you are going to always have people with unrealistic expectations and lack understanding of the challenges when it is based off false pretenses like "recruiting rankings". On the flip side you will have some with low expectations that don't demand more.

To many in the fanbase have the battered woman syndrome, are just naturally negative or don't like the staff to begin with. Losing early provides an opportunity for them to say "I told you so".

There were several of us that saw the talent level at the end of last year and knew it is going to take some time. Jones recruited some really good players over the years but he also ran off many of the better ones or they left early. His rankings we based on quantity. Something was off with his staff's evaluations. He didn't recruit enough speed on defense especially at CB, pass rushers or size in the middle.
