Tonight, a true Vol for Life passed away. My granddad passed from a massive heart attack at the age of 75 (a fan since the Neyland days). He hasn't had any heart problems, so it was unexpected. He and my granny who passed in 06 (about two years before their 50th anniversary) had season tickets nearly all their lives, right in section C. My brothers and my dad had season tickets too sitting right next to him. He and my grandmother went to school there, and my parents did as well. He watched every single game start to finish, every basketball game and lady vol's game. I remember in 02 when I was just about ten years old, I was so mad about the Miami game. He said, "Oh, well we can still finish 10 & 2." In his eyes, Tennessee truly has the greatest program in the south, and he taught me about a good kind of pride. However, he was a humble man and you wouldn't have ever known of all his success in life until you got to know him. He was a man of God and loved his wife and kids to the very end. God bless him.

Sorry about to add to all the sad posts on here, but I had to tell you about him! It's been a hard night, so any prayer is much appreciated.

Sounds all too familiar my friend. My grandfather took me to Neyland for my first orange blood transfusion when I was under 5 years old and couldn't keep me away from that point on. He passed away 8 years ago in January... Remember the good times and thank God for having him in your life. Emulate him and be every bit the man your grandfather was. Prayers sent your way along with a farewell Go Vols!!!

Thanks. You're right, and I really appreciate it. Vol fans are the best.

Really pray for my dad as he has now lost both his parents, and it was so unexepected. I leave early in the morning from college to go back. Thanks again.

Yes, definitely sorry for your loss. He sounded like a man of God, family, and UT, which is not a bad way to be.
You and your family, especially your father, will be in our prayers. May God bless and grant the comfort needed during this time.

Prayers sent.

Sounds like he's at home now reunited with his wife. I'm not sure if my heart would last that long without mine.

That is a bittersweet story. Thanks for sharing. That sort of pride is very inspiring as a new member of the Vol family and one of the reasons I am glad to be here as a fan. I hope you have a safe holiday and remember all the good times.

Sorry for you loss and I can somewhat relate as to the biggest Vols fan I ever knew was my own father who passed away this past July at the age of 84. He started me on UT football way back in the late 60's when I was a young kid and took me to my first game against Georgia Tech when they were still in the SEC. I also remember sitting there with him during the first night game at Neyland Stadium playing against Penn State. Man we had some good times.

It was a weird football season for me since he passed just before this season got started. You wouldn't believe how many times I almost grabbed the phone to call him or expected the phone to ring any minute after a big play while watching some of the college games this season (not just UT games) and then would catch myself and remember that he wasn't watching the same game like it 'used to be'...at least from down here anyways.

Just remember all of the good times and the laughs...it's worked for me.

Sorry for rambling about my loss in your thread...it just got me to thinking about 'stuff'. GBO !!
