As many people on VN, including myself, are pondering about the direction UT Football is heading, let us remember that WE wanted Phil Fulmer's ouster. Now we as fans have to reap what we sow. Will we lose many recruits? I dont think so personally. Oku will stay, Tajh Boyd will benefit from this change, as will Stokes. The next replacement will not be conservative in nature. The next replacement will not be afraid to air it out, nor afraid to run up the score.
We as fans have to be patient for the first few years. Success will not be granted overnight, and if it is, then it is a bonus. I think more than anything, the face of UT football will change drastically. Look at Michigan for example. They were perenially a run em, PA pass em team. They would merely run, set up the pass, then let their D grind it out. Now, they will figure to be an offensive juggernaut once Rodriguez has his recruits in place. UT will most likely not be a run em/pound em team anymore, as of 2009.
Another thing UT has to look at is the fact that the last few head coaches have been here for 15 or more seasons. Will our new HC last that long, or will UT be another victim of revolving door HC's?
Reading other's posts on VN, I have to agree that it is fitting to give that man another STANDING OVATION. Afterall, he has humbly never once referenced his 98 NATL title team to the media when he has been under the hot seat. He deserves it. He doesnt deserve to be ridiculed for OCs that dont work, ie Sanders. Clawson is an exception because this is a first year system, which truly isn't being utilized to its fullest capacity. Phil Fulmer is UT Football personified, even if it is time for a change.
