A Thread For The Coaching Search Family!

I need to change my username... I am no longer in Birmingham thankfully :) Moved to good ole Knoxville on December 30, 2010.

We were living just north of Chelsea on Highway 280 when we did live in Birmingham.

That area has exploded in the last 3-4 years....especially Chelsea. We are hoping to be moving back to Seymour or Maryville in the next 2 years. Haven't lived in east Tennessee since '88 other than a 6month span in college. Ready to get back. Wife is not from there but she has always thought it was the greatest.

Jason Carr,Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and the other one escapes me at the present time..But 3 outta nine is NOT good at all.

I honestly believe that Dooley didn't give a rat's behind b/c he knew he was getting the buyout..He acquired the "screw you UT" attitude.

The other is the DE out of Memphis Whitestation if Im not mistaken. Memphis has always been tough but we have no excuse for letting the ones out of Nashville, Chatt, and Kville get out with out a fight.

Jason Carr is out of Whitestation.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin is out of Clarksville.

Maybe Sanders was in the top nine and he might be it.

My husband used to live in Hoover selling safety equipment and he loved it..He said that was the nicest area of Alabama..If that tells you anything.

Hoover really is the nicest part of the state. We didn't hate Birmingham, just the Alabama fans and traffic. B'ham has one of the worst laid out roads in any major city I've ever been in. No reason it should take you 1 hour to get from Chelsea to downtown at 7am in the morning, but thanks to there only being one route north/south on that side of town that is what you get.

We absolutely LOVE Knoxville though. If something happens on I-40 you can hop off and take Middlebrook or Kingston to get to your destination. This is what Birmingham lacks.

Only thing I hate we don't have is Jim 'N Nicks BBQ. I cried when the one on Lovell Road closed.

For all of the incredible BBQ we have between Nashville and Memphis, I freaking LOVE Jim n Nicks. Those tacos are insane.

That does sound like it is a pain in the arse.UGH!

I have a good friend that lives in Alabama and he's always saying how he hates living there..Starting to understand why now.

We had a Jim n Nicks here in Knoxville but it went outta business the night after hubby and I ate there..So strange.

Well the night that we went, it was packed and we had to wait a while to get seated..Like i said, strange.

Jim 'N Nicks licensed ~100 restaurants to Ruby Tuesday. That location used to be a RT, then a JNN, now a Marlin and something seafood place. I think it is one of their testing locations. It is in a horrific place -- can't turn left into the restaurant easily, can't turn left out.

It wasn't an actual Jim 'n Nicks. It wasn't built to look like one. They literally stripped out a Ruby Tuesdays and tried to make it look like JNN. You could tell where the salad bar used to be. It was just awful.

The food was the same, but the service was atrocious the few times my wife and I got to go. Nothing like the real deal. Wish they would open up an actual location designed and built to be the real deal, in a good location that is accessible.

Two cents from a Jim 'N Nicks connoisseur.

Marlin Rays is the seafood place you're referring to..That's the restaurant that replaced our Jim n Nicks and it has excellent seafood with a little kick to it if you prefer it that way..Spicy and cajun food is my thing.

Sounds like restaurants in Alabama are hard to get to..Sheesh.

No, what I'm saying is the Jim n Nicks at the Marlin and Rays location is not a great spot to be in. You pretty much have to be going south on Lovell to turn right into the restaurant. Location, location, location.

If they would put a real, built from the ground up JNN in Turkey Creek next to the new Publix I think they would literally print money.

My bad,I misunderstood..Not surprising this morning..Understand what you're saying now..Duh.

Shows you what I know, I thought Jim N Nicks was only in the Bham area....of course I lived in Tallahassee for 13 years and they hardly had anything to brag about as it relates to B'que and now in Ecuador....not much southern B'que here...lol....unless I make it.

I spent some time in Phenix City, AL. About all I can say is there was some good Bar-B-Q in the area. Otherwise, I am so glad not to be there anymore.

Smokey....how did you become an FSU fan if ya don't mind me asking?

No,don't mind at all...Not quite sure "how I fell in love" with them myself except for the fact it seemed like they always won..Started rooting for them back in the 80's and adopted them as "my other team"..They had a slump in Bowden's last few years but I think he was losing his touch and it was time for him to move on,IMO..Even in the down years, I still cheered for them..They've had a pretty good season this year in spite of a couple of heart-breaking loses(from my perspective)..NC St. lose was unacceptable and they did choke but I still like them anyway.

Hadn't even started yet, but i'm probably going tomorrow..Still trying to get my hubby's wish list..It's like pulling teeth to get some answers..I'll probably end up asking him again before I leave and hopefully he can can me a straight answer.

Anyone started or have finished their Christmas shopping this year yet?

Not doing any Christmas shopping this year. We are going to Fla to see my cousin's two boys play in a soccer tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. So that is our Christmas present this year. Should be pretty nice. What about you?? Have you started yours yet?:)
