A Special Thanks to Simms

I appreciate the guy's effort. He's loyal and has taken the hits. But we knew how bad he was, and still, he was our Plan B. Florida has already gone four deep (maybe five), and all are better than Simms. We really are experiencing our worst case scenario with the loss of JJ, Hunter and Bray. Throw in our freshmen's slow development, and we just can't rise above.

Poor kid is just not good enough. Cracks under pressure. That is cool. Wish him the best in his future endeavors. Actually, I am very thankful he stuck around. Shows me he is VFL. Many players would not have done so. Like many Vol fans and MS himself, I wish things had worked out better for him.

We simply have no one better. It amazes me how some fans trash a guy who wears the orange and white. He may struggle but he is a VOL!!

Simms you are not the best QB to wear an orange jersey, but you came into the toughest situations. For that, I thank you.

You played the toughest part of our schedule last year just to go to the bench for Bray.

This year Bray gets hurt and you play against the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the country even though you will most likely be a backup to Worley.

We appreciate your efforts.

VFL

hell they bench a different DB every week, and Simms is not to good to be benched.

I'm glad Dooley is competitive enought to put Worley in and try to salvage this season.

But I'm sad for Simms. He gives it his all - it just isn't enough. Really wanted him to be successful because of all he's been threw.

Let's just thank him for his dedication and leave the "he sucks" stuff out. Not helpful to him, or to us as Vols fans.

He should be respected for sticking with the team. But he has not stepped up and taken advantage of this second opportunity. I never thought that Worley would be our best option, but he sure seems like it now.

I wish he was Peyton Manning, but he is not, and if Peyton was playing on this team, he wouldn't be Peyton either! But sounds like all you guys could go out there and do better?! The decisions a QB has to make are done in a split second and when you haven't played in a year and you don't have any protection, against the top two defenses in the free world, it ain't gonna be pretty. There is no time for receivers to run a route, much less get open! Let's get real here and quit trashing someone trying their best and wearing our colors. Good -vs- Bad decisions come with reps, and until Bray went down, this guy hasn't had any in over a year. Do you think if Peyton comes back onto the field for the last game of the year, he is going to play like he did before his injury?! I bet his timing is off, and his game decisions are a little rushed as well! Just a thought.

I feel sorry for Simms. No, he's not Tyler Bray. But people need to show some respect.

I'm 50% thankful and 50% frustrated...

On one hand, I have a lot of respect for the guy. He loves UT and in the end he's the fallback guy. That's a tough spot to be in and, if put in that situation, you can't help but empathize with him.

On the other hand, there is much to belabor over his play this season. I'm sure in the film room he's as good as anybody. He probably shows out in practice. He!!, he may even be a decent QB when the lights come on ... but not in the SEC! And honestly I have to wonder (since his playmakers from last year are gone) if he even gels with the receivers in this offense... I mean, let's face it, getting tanked by LSU and Bama this year was not surprising. But not scoring a TD in an offensive system that you should know better than any QB on this team?? I'd expect that from Nash Nance or even Worley... but as a SR his expectations have to be higher when you have 2 (really 3) younger guys looking up to you....

So thanks Matty Simms and I wish you luck! Take that clipboard like a man and start learning how to coach...

I hate to dog him, because he just took his best opportunity, and played to the hand he was dealt, but my God, how does someone that bad end up at a major D1 university? He's a senior, and he's just been benched in favor of a true freshman for the 2nd year in a row. It's sad really. I mean I get his that his dad played in the NFL, and so is his brother, but....well....I guess that's probably why.

Sometimes I wonder. I mean I get the whole "VFL" thing, but I honestly wonder what's going on in his mind right now. You think he ever wishes he would've stayed somewhere smaller, where he could have more of an impact? I'm trying to imagine how I would feel in that situation....And if I had gone through what he has the past 2 years, I probably would wish that. I just hope the death threats don't start up.

There's thousands of young men who would be willing to strap on the orange jersey and take a pounding. And sadly, one of them who does strictly that is our quarterback.

Thanks for coming here, Matt. Genuinely.

I thank him for his heart and effort.

But what the HELL was Kiffin thinking bringing him in?

And for those *****ing about Worley's "wasted" redshirt, why are you mad at Dooley? Thank the previous two idiots we had leading this ship for our complete lack of talent and talent evaluation. We have a WHOPPING four seniors worth a damn on this team, and that number will probably be the same next year. YOU CAN'T WIN LIKE THAT.

Teams that have good freshmen contribute have other good players around them. We don't.

Bray is obviously a better quarterback than Simms. By a LONGSHOT. If Simms had a different father, he wouldn't be here. That's the truth.

This current lineup is not a good team. Face it. Next year might be different, but I don't even know anymore when this damn team will compete.

6-6. If we are lucky. 6-7 with a spanking from whoever plays us in said bowl game.
