Trying to keep up. This is what I’m reading for the moment:

1. Lawson is legitimately torn between UT and Auburn. The late visit to Auburn won’t help. Likely, between Lawson, Bellamy, and Miller, we do not sign all three.

2. Bell is leaning our way in spite of some analysts who say Bammer.

3. North will not be able to resist a wide open depth chart at Wide Receiver U.

4. UT will land a top linebacker. For the moment it looks like Levenberry. Would be glad to have Cunningham too. Johnson was a flash in the pan.

5. Ford may have decommitted in favor of Auburn, but Jones and staff are trying to change that.

6. If Morris knew #5 above when he tweeted that Ford should have stayed with Vandy, then Morris may still be on the board.

7. Dobbs is an unexpected surprise but apparently for real.

Please update and/or correct at will.

Very good summary. I think that is exactly where we stand with all these guys presently. As to number 1, I think if we get Lawson, we may get Belemy and Miller. If we don't get lawson I think we get just Miller. JMO.

I think you can take Cunningham off the list. He isn't even going to visit and we appear to be out of the running. As for number 1, I think we get only Miller, but there's still a shot at all three.

1. Lawson is legitimately torn between ut and auburn. The late visit to auburn won’t help. Likely, between lawson, bellamy, and miller, we do not sign all three. we get miller, thats it here

2. Bell is leaning our way in spite of some analysts who say bammer. bama is out

3. North will not be able to resist a wide open depth chart at wide receiver u.

4. Ut will land a top linebacker. For the moment it looks like levenberry. Would be glad to have cunningham too. Johnson was a flash in the pan. i think thats a stretch since cunningham for the most part dropped ut and levenberry still hasnt made it to campus. Trey johnson is flirting but another stretch.

5. Ford may have decommitted in favor of auburn, but jones and staff are trying to change that. hes a tiger, because of family. I think he wants to be a vol but family pressure pushes him to auburn.

6. If morris knew #5 above when he tweeted that ford should have stayed with vandy, then morris may still be on the board. morris is a headcase. Something just isnt right with him.

7. Dobbs is an unexpected surprise but apparently for real.

Realistically I think we end up with, Bell, North, & Miller. That will put us with ~21 recruits and we add a few more after NSD.

I am not sure what they plan to do with Swafford. This could set the stage to have a huge class next year.

With those additions we have a top 20 class.

Serious question.

If the depth chart is wide open, can we really claim Wide Receiver U still?

WRU isnt about the depth chart its about all the great WR who have played here in the past. I think it all started in the 80s when we had guys like Pickens and Gault, etc.

WR U is because we are constantly producing NFL WRs. This upcoming draft could have four receivers from UT drafted (Hunter, CP, Zro, and Rivera) as well as a former Vol in Da'rick.

The fact that we can still produce NFL WRs through the toughest times in recen history is why we are WR U.

Don't agree with #6. Skeeter said Morris went silent after his visit and it didn't sit well with the coaches. I agree with him.

Of the ones mentioned in the OP, I think

we get:
Miller
Bell
North
Levenberry
Dobbs

Miss on:
Bellamy
Cunningham
Johnson
Ford
Morris

And I just don't know about Lawson.

Lawson im not sure about and same with Bellamy. Miller is pretty much ours. North will have a hard time turning us down so that looks good. Ford could go either way it looks like an Auburn lean. Dobbs i think flips to us. Bell is all vol. Levenberry will be a vol if he visits. Johnson will be tough to flip. Morris the ship has sailed with him. If we get a running back i think its Turner or Blanchard. Thats the way i see things at this point. Things could change though. :D

Yes, cause it implies history and a long tradition of putting outstanding WRs in the NFL. Including this year with Hunter and Patterson and Rogers for that matter. It's a great selling point.

Hope you're right Sammy and seems you are. If we do land those guys that's a very good class- probably puts us top 15 or so and gives us great momentum. If they somehow get Lawson too? Go bUTch!

I think it actually started when we had Richmond Flowers.... or the other tall, white, wide receiver in the late 70's & Stanley Morgan

We're thin at WR because they all are going to the NFL---Rogers-Hunter-Patterson.

Hence----wide receiver u :salute::salute::salute:

Larry Seivers was the other great wr in the 70s. I thought Stanley Morgan was a tailback at UT, not a wr until he got to the NFL.

Morgan switched from a wide out to tail back, but he had some great catches. The one I remember was when he lad out to catch a down field bomb against Kentucky. Flowers is a great story too. His father was the Attorney General of Alabama and he sat out of the '68 Olympics in Mexico City with a torn hamstring. He ran the 120 YD high hurdles. Then there was Seivers, as mentioned, Pickens, Harper and on and on.

Johnson is not a flash in the pan. He is the best leader we have defensively and is without a doubt the most enthusiastic. not sure I saw a play this year he didn't have his hands on. rewatch the Florida game and you'll see avoiding him was a clear strategy. Obviously makes mistakes but thats easy to do when the rest of your defense is in shambles.

Sorry. thats my favorite player. May be a little defensive

Think he was talking about Trey Johnson, not AJ.

Could be wrong.
