A Simple View of the Arkansas Game

Franks has never picked apart a defense, and I don’t think he will start Saturday. He may play well enough to beat us, but he is not a very good qb. That being said , I would trade Guarantano for Frank’s in a heartbeat.

As a starting QB, Felipe Franks has never lost to a UT team. There's no reason to believe he'll do anything other than throw for 200+ and rush for about another 100 this game. He personally rushed for 91 against A&M last game.

Their pass defense wont matter much when we rush the ball 75 times and don't throw it more than 5 yards down field because Chaney has pulled the reigns tight on JG.
I don't care if the hogs are #1 in the nation, Hyatt can get past them. Just need that over-hyped Oline to hold an extra second. UT has to go deep to force Arky to respect it.

Why Tennessee should win:
1. Overall talent - Tennessee does (and should always have) better talent on the field than a team like Arkansas. Getting good players to come to Fayettnam has to be one of the hardest jobs in football.
2. First year head coach - Arkansas has a coach who's never been a HC before and he's in his first year. Now, from everything I've ever read on VolNation, a first year head coach should not be expected to win because it take 3-5 years to do that
3. Lack of home field advantage - Arkansas isn't a tough place to win in the best of times, but with the virus limiting fan access, the crowd wont play a factor
4. Arkansas is weak against the run and Tennessee loves to run (even when they shouldn't)

Why Arkansas should win:
1. Tennessee has JG at QB and Arkansas has Franks - Arkansas should be overmatched in every other aspect of the game except for the most important position on the football field. JGs ability to single handedly destroy a game is maybe unparalleled in the history of college football.
2. Tennessee apparently has no backup QB options worth a darn. Pruitt consistently forces the idea that JG is the best chance. Not a good chance, but just the best chance. Apparently no QB development has happened for Shrout in 3 years or Maurer in 2 year.

So you might think Tennessee can overcome this? I think they should. But I think Tennessee loses this game 27 to 17 due largely to what will be an ineffective offense dumbed down to suit a guy who's not mentally in the game and backup QBs who are inexplicably not ready to be, well, backups.

We will not be able to keep our defense off the field. They will get gassed and Franks will pick us apart.

At the end of the day, Arkansas will prove to be the more talented team by far
