Okay...back to business...getting ready for LSU...

Here's what scares me:

I did some quick research here and found out that we have only scored 154 points in the second half this year. That's only 12.8 points per game!

If you take out So. Miss., Arky State, and La. Laffy, we have only scored 80!!!!!!! That's an average of 8.9 points per game in the second half!!! (8.9???)

What gives? That is a somber thought, don't you guys think? 8.9 points per game...

Take out the three games mentioned above and you will find we were 3-6 in the second half...OUCH!

Yes every game this year we have fallen off in the second half. Even the games that we remember as dominating performances (UGA, Ark), this was true. It frustrates me to no end. Keep the foot on the gas offensively please.

Sort of, or you could say great scheme early leads to scores and we are losing on talent late, that is what I think it is. Our receivers cannot get open enough once the D is not fooled. They drop passes. Ainge gets frustrated starts forcing it in. Jones or Moore or someone needs to be inserted we need someone to complement Taylor. These guys make me proud to be UT fan as they play with heart and execution but the receiving core needs an injection of talent. We just need one receiver of the O'neal, Moore, Jones group to step up.

That was something I had noticed as well. We always come out flat in the 2nd half. We "call off the dogs" if we're ahead, and execution has not been there. The players don't seem nearly as intense. It accounts to being out-played by the other team. Biggest ones that stick out to me are: Cal, UF, Bama, Ark and Kentucky.

I think part of it too is our tendency to get conservative with a lead:

Georgia
Arkansas
South Carolina
Kentucky

Big halftime leads and playing not to lose in the second half.

LSU plays on talent btw, they scheme is not good but not bad--Miles was not focused in Ark game at one point he missed major mismatch and his assistants had to call timeout--he was staring at the ground a lot thinking of Mich job and how he is going to leave LSU.

Eh, it's not just offense. It's the whole team that seems "out of sync".

I don't know what Fulmer says during half-time, but it clearly is not working.

I don't think we've had one yet this year. Too much has been in huge blotches. Focus seems... gone. They looked like they were playing for Fulmer and the SECC in the 1st, but the 2nd it really looked like they didn't care.

georgia and arkansas were about as close as you got to complete games this season

If I see one of our DB's in Atlanta playing ten yards off when they only need five yards for a first or worse a score, I am going to have to run onto the field and grab a face mask.
Maybe Volnation can raise my bail money. Any help is appreciated.

I'll send money to help...even the obviously biased CBS announcers (Unbelievably unprofessional) talked about how our DBs were playing "soft". Good grief, I could have completed passes the whole second half with the yardage our DBs were playing back off the ball!

You'll probably see that a lot this Saturday. During one of the OT periods last night #24 did just that and gave up an easy TD. The UK player was around the 15 and #24 was on the five. Soon as the ball was snapped #24 started backing up into the end zone. The WR simply ran to the five and turned around for the easy catch. Our DB however was still in the end zone attempting to make up the yardage difference. If memory serves, he made the tackle in the end zone.

It's not just the corners playing too deep, I think Chavis is scard to call a bitz in the second half. This game didn't have to go to overime. Kentucky's last 10 "come from behind" points were possible because there was never any attempt to bring pressure.

We brought pressure most of the game we made Woodson pay, we were getting pressure with just the front four and even with three, holds were evidently legal and we still had him on his back. Our guys have to hold the coverage just a second longer or catch the ball on potential ints.

Please don't sit on the lead this week LSU's talent will be us if we take the foot off the pedal.

I think both the defensive calls and the offensive strategy focuses on playing not to lose rather than playing to win in the second half. By not "going for more" we allow the opponent to stay in the game, or to inch ever closer and the next thing you know, we're up to our eyeballs in it.

I would like to issue a personal plea to our coaches to just go balls to the wall in both halves Saturday and send LSU home while we order Southeastern Conference championship rings!!!!!!!
