Folks, I just checked the official roster.

Sadly, Paul Bain is no longer listed there.

I will admit my ignorance. But was Paul Bain ever a real person? I understand the jokes that go on, but was he ever real or completely made up?

He was a DT who transferred in from Tusculum. Not sure, but I think he played HS ball in Georgia.

Conventional thinking would say he would have only been a practice body. However, the way some of our fellow VN members tried to build a myth about him, I wish he had made an appearance. Even if it took us chanting his name at the end of a blowout.

And just for poetic justice, he had blown up a play. One worthy of SportsCenter. It would have been priceless.

Legend has it that he will never die. He will become the moment when a 100 pound woman lifts a car off her husband or other such legendary tales. Die? I say never.

I just googled him, and found his twitter page.

The first line says, "Just finished training Chuck Norris."

No wonder this silliness got started. Read some of his tweets.

Or did one of you jokers do that?

Montanatenn, you reminded me of one of the many great lines from Jeremiah Johnson: "Some say you're dead on account of this. Some say you never will be... on account of this." By the way, have you gotten any significant snow up there yet during this wacky winter?

Small college to big college practice squad to playing in a blowout after fans chant his name. Then he blows up a play. That would make a great movie!!

yes, but the Juco players and Osbourne have been added, and the outgoing seniors have been removed. And so has Bain. So, I assume he is no longer with the team.
