A real coach

I'd say Butch was the first real coach we've had since Majors.

Yeah, Fulmer really sucked. 152-52, couple of SEC titles, 15 bowls in 16 years, tons of players put in the league including 20 first RS picks, National title. He really sucked.

The thing that hurts the most is no one out there really wants this job and the pressure cooker that comes with it.

Is it possible to be "a real coach" and still not be good enough to compete at this level? Because that is what I see. I agree, he isn't the joke that Dooley was or the daddy's boy Kiffin was. There are good coaches out there who just aren't up to coaching in the SEC. Jones looks like one of them.

This is just a joke, CBJ is rebuilding the winningest program in the SEC East (2nd in the SEC behind Bammer). I'm surprised he's able to reel in so many recruits despite our recent history.

A lot of recruits seem to like where we're heading. Why can't we?

its because we have to please the Haslams or we don't throw the right money at top coaches. When you fire Pittman and hire Mahoney your going backwards. That's how we roll

We don't have a scatback? What is Devrin Young?

This was a Dooley-like loss. A game that was there to be won--and yet we find a way to lose it. That was the hallmark of Dooley. Now Butch is moving into Dooley territory--snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. You think we're the only team that plays freshmen? Always more excuses....

I call bs on this.
Dooley preferred to lose in the 1st quarter and by dbl digits

Because after the last nine years, everyone knew this was the best chance we had at winning this game. It doesn't get any easier after this year. That's why.

Stop living off the past. In the last 6 years all we have done is gone backwards ...its the w & L that count

Because Tennessee apparently has some of the dumbest fans known to man

Did ga southern have the talent to match up with them? Or Kentucky?

UOTE=keckjm;10648406]CBJ is the first real coach we have had since Fulmer. You bunch of losers/cry babies need to STFU with the CBJ can't coach/he's about to be on the hot seat/the honey moon is over. What did you guys expect to happen when we start two freshman on the o-line? Yea, I'm concerned about Mahoney's ability to recruit top o-lineman and then coach them up, but I'm also fully aware he didn't get us into the mess we are in roster wise. Yea, Mike Baj. makes some questionable calls, but I'm also not in the press box seeing what he sees. Two years from now all you guys can b**** all you want if our o-line isn't fixed, and big plays aren't being made on offense, especially in the redzone.

Try to be a little more pragmatic here. So many of you guys can't take the orange glasses off. I've been going to games since I was a kid. I was blessed to have a best friend whose parents were donors at UT and had season tickets year in and year out. I bleed orange just like everyone else here. I get piss## off too when we lose like we did today, but I also understand the talent isn't there yet. FL sucks because they are poorly coached. They have stack loads of talent. Their defensive line is unreal, and they have 2 five star CBs starting. Their LT was the number 1 LT prospect coming out of high school. Wake up guys. We don't have the talent to match that. Hurd isn't a miracle worker. Malone isn't a miracle worker. Barnett isn't a miracle worker. We have loads of great young talent, but we don't have any depth. We don't have a scat back that can make huge plays for us in the flat when teams blitz. We don't have an o-line worth a crap. Our two best TEs on our team are freshman and are still learning blocking schemes, etc. Everyone needs to take off their panties, put your big boy boxers back on, and get back on the orange train. We MUST pack Neyland every game. Every game matters! We need to win six games, and our team can't do that without all of us supporting them.[/QUOTE]

...We don't have the talent ... It had little to do with coaching. FL sacked Worley on three man rushes. What do you want Butch to do? Our defense shut down FL. Jancek' play calling owned FL all game. ...
It has quite a bit to do with coaching (which includes play calling), see 2nd highlight of your own words. Our D is just as young with freshmen and using some of the same players that gave up quite a few points last year. We have just as many talented players on offense and more depth in the skills positions on offense. What's the difference? I think you answered it, DC is doing his job, and IMHO; the OC is NOT.
I want Butch. Not Bajakian(sp)... Our Defense gave us plenty of chances to win, but we never threatened them on offense. It was simply pathetic.
Defense was stellar IMO. Actually, I think we threatened at least 3-4 times, but; only came away with 9 points. That will not get it.
Thank you! We've been "young" for 5 years now. They need to find a new excuse.
Yep, our defense is young and it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Guys.... The Vols play more freshmen than any other Div 1 team. Why do you think this is? Could it be that the rest of the roster is lacking in SEC caliber talent?

Look at the freshmen that are playing and consider the job they're doing. If you cats can't see the level of talent being upgraded then you're dumber than hell.

What do I want him to do? I want him to create some space for our QB to throw without having to stand in the pocket. How about rolling Worley right or left and letting him throw out of a bootleg? How about on 3rd and 4 or 5 run a delayed draw because he knows the blitz is coming. How about a shovel pass or an inside screen to compensate for Defensive ends and Corners pinning their ears back and having free running lanes to our QB. How about a Tight End quick slant to the exact spot the LB's just vacated because they're blitzing. Would you like me to keep going?

Did you watch the game? Just curious. We tried draw plays. We tried delayed running plays. We tried throwing to the RB on screens. We tried throwing to the RB in the flat. We tried bubble screens. We tried getting the ball to the TE, but 90% of the time they couldn't get open. Also, they didn't blitz their CBs at all the first half, not once. They played man up. They got pressure on us with 3 and 4 man rush schemes. Fowler killed us all game. When your o-line can't block it throws a wrench in the play book. You have to leave TEs and RBs back to pick up missed blocks. That puts you at a horrible disadvantage because those TEs and RBs aren't being covered by the defense anymore, thus allowing them to put focus elsewhere. Worley isn't the greatest roll out QB. He tried to extend plays and make things happen. He stood in the pocket and tried to buy time for our WRs to get open. FL secondary is good. It's possibly the best secondary we will play all year. Our WRs couldn't win their match ups and no one was open.

p.s. I'm not trying to give you a hard time man. I understand the fustration. I even question some of the offensive play calls, but you just have to understand how bad of shape our o-line is in. CBJ will do whatever it takes to win here. We are in good hands. If coaching changes need to be made he'll make them in due time.

I thought 2015 was "our year." I guess we can start pushing the "our year" date back two years every season. We were two years away last year, now we're another two years away this year. I suppose next year we'll be another two years away.

We're on the perpetual two-year plan. I like it! :loco:

Without watching game film and seeing the defensive schemes and coverage, how can anybody question the play calling. Reads, progressions and timing have a lot to do with it too. Last week Worley is a hero. This week some want the OC fired and Worley benched for the Dobbs. Florida still has great athletes and you cannot take anything away from either defense. I sat in the swamp last year watching complacent Florida fans leave in the 3rd quarter. That was with an O line, most of which is in the NFL today.

Don't get me wrong. I HATE losing to UF and Bama, but I am encouraged at our progress from last year with a younger team. We are seriously competing with Freshmen and Sophomores.

Hey OP...

I don't want to search for them...but, I DO KNOW...that virtually those same exact words were spoken after Fulmer's Wyoming loss...Kiffin's debacle @ Tuscaloosa...Dooley's stupidity @ LSU, Music City Bowl...etc.

Same song...different singer, if you ask me...

Fulmer was fired prior to Wyoming. That was a rough week.
